Amending Regulations under “The Government Railways Department Classification Act, 1896.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of July, 1901.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon him by “The Government Railways Department Classification Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, did, on the thirty-first day of August, one thousand nine hundred, for the purpose of the aforesaid Act, make certain regulations (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”), that were gazetted on the sixth day of September: And whereas it is expedient to amend those regulations: Now, therefore, in further exercise of the aforesaid powers, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor, acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend the principal regulations in manner set forth in the Schedule hereto, such amendment to come into force on the first day of August next.
SCHEDULE.
In the case of a cleaner in the Second Division the educational qualification required shall be the Fifth Standard of the Government schools, or its equivalent; and clause 5 of the principal regulations is hereby modified accordingly.

Notifying Land in Southland for Sale by Public Auction.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the eighteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and one, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such land.

Rural Lands in the Southland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the seventeenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

The middle of this block is situated about twelve miles by road from Orepuki Railway-station; the land is forest-clad, undulating to hilly; soil fair to good, and well watered. Section 1 is burdened with valuation of £113 for improvements, consisting of cleared and grassed land, fencing and garden; Section 3 is burdened with valuation of £163 for house, outbuildings, and garden, clearing and grassing, and fencing; Section 4 is burdened with £224 5s. for house, outbuildings and garden, clearing and grassing, and fencing; Section 9 is burdened with £309 10s. for house, outbuildings, garden and orchard, boundary division-fences, road-formation, and 60 acres cleared and in grass.
