FINES.

  1. All moneys received from fines shall be placed by the Government Printer in a common fund to be applied towards the expenses in connection with the annual picnic held by the employés.

STRANGERS VISITING THE OFFICE.

  1. Persons wishing to interview any of the employés during working-hours shall first apply at the clerks’ office, when, if the matter is urgent, the employé will be summoned to the waiting-room. Strangers are not allowed in the workrooms except by authority of the Government Printer or his deputy.

SCHEDULE A.

OVERTIME allowed* to be at the rate of time and a quarter.

  • Officers in the general and clerical divisions are not entitled to overtime, though it may be necessary they should be on duty after ordinary working-hours.

SCHEDULE B.

THE ordinary rate for composition, either solid or leaded, shall be 1s. 1d. per 1,000 ens. A special rate of 1s. 3d. per 1,000 ens will be allowed on works of a technical or scientific character, and a rate of 1s. 4d. per 1,000 ens for Hansard. The allowance on piece for table, tabular, and column matter usually recognised by the trade in New Zealand will be granted. Maori and all foreign languages to be paid one-third extra. Piece-hands put on time for less than a whole day will be allowed 1s. 6d. per hour; for a full day, 10s. 8d. These rates are liable to be modified from time to time, as circumstances may demand.

BALCLUTHA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Balclutha, Otago, 9th May, 1901.

To the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.

SIR,—I have the honour, pursuant to section 124 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” to give you notice that on the 8th May, 1900, a poll of the ratepayers was taken for proposal to borrow the sum of £1,000, or such lesser sum as may be required, for the purpose of erecting sheep- and cattle-yards within the borough—the security for such loan to be the said yards, and the revenue derivable therefrom, and the general revenue of the borough; and enclose statutory declaration under “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882,” by the Mayor, to the effect that all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the electors to the proposal have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.

I, Daniel Stewart, of the Borough of Balclutha, in the Provincial District of Otago, Mayor of the said borough, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” to be taken in or towards the sanction of the burgesses of the said borough to the proposal to raise a loan of £1,000 for the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution has been duly carried.
