Reserves in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 9th January, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to noon on Thursday, the 28th February, 1901, for the leases of the under-mentioned reserves.

In the event of no tender being received at the time named for either of the lots, they will remain open for lease on application at the upset rentals and for the terms stated herein.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—NIMROD SURVEY DISTRICT.

These reserves are situated on the western side of the Whiterock River, at the foot of the eastern slope of Mount Nimrod, about four miles and a half southward from the Cannington Homestead, and about eleven miles south-westward from Cave Railway-station. They comprise stony terrace land and river-flats, with native vegetation.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or money-order for the amount of six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease-fee.

  2. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  3. The leases will be for the terms stated in the Schedule.

  4. The Commissioner of Crown Lands may at any time resume possession of the land comprised in the lease, or any portion thereof, by giving to the lessee twelve months’ notice in writing of his intention so to do.

  5. The lessee shall have no right to compensation either for any improvements that may be placed upon the land, nor on account of the aforesaid resumption, nor for any other cause.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the whole or any portion of the land comprised in the lease except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  7. The land shall be used for grazing purposes only, and shall not be broken up or cropped without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  8. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  9. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove or cause to be removed all gorse, broom, sweetbriar, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  10. The rent shall be payable half-yearly, in advance, free of all deductions whatsoever.

  11. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within sixty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Crown Land in Hawke’s Bay for Sale under Section 114 of “The Land Act, 1892.”

District Lands and Survey Office,
Napier, 4th January, 1901.

IT is hereby notified, in pursuance of section 240 of “The Land Act, 1892,” that the under-mentioned Crown land will be offered to the holders of the adjoining lands under section 114 of “The Land Act, 1892,” on or after the 17th April, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned small grazing-run will be open for application at this office on Monday, the 25th February, 1901, at the rental stated.

In the event of more than one application being received on the same day, the right to select will be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—COROMANDEL COUNTY.

HARATAUNGA SURVEY DISTRICT, BLOCKS V. AND VI.: Small grazing-run No. 27, 2,560 acres, Auckland Museum Endowment or Waikanae Block. Half-yearly rental, £16. Term of lease, twenty-one years from 1st March, 1901.

Broken pastoral land; forest and open; clay soil, medium quality and well watered. Situated between Cabbage Bay and Waikawau Bay, and within a mile of each bay.

The lease will be under Part V. of “The Land Act, 1892.” Forms of application and poster plans obtainable at this office.

Totara and Rimu Timber, Tararua Survey District, for Sale by Public Auction for Cash.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 10th January, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that timber on the under-mentioned Crown lands, containing about 750,000 superficial feet, in Tararua Survey District, will be offered for sale by public auction, in one lot, at the Public Hall, Eketahuna, on Thursday, the 7th March, 1901, at 2.30 p.m.

SCHEDULE.

Section 1, Block IV., Tararua District; 201 acres 2 roods.

Totara (first class): About 237 trees, containing about 167,000 superficial feet.

Totara (second class): About 148 trees, containing about 83,000 superficial feet.

Rimu: About 500,000 superficial feet.

Upset price, £333 10s.

TERMS OF SALE.

The timber is offered subject to the provisions of “The State Forests Act, 1885,” and of the regulations made thereunder.

The purchaser shall pay the purchase-money in cash or by marked cheque in three equal instalments—one-third, and £1 1s. license-fee, being deposited on the fall of the hammer, one-third within six months thereafter, and the remaining one-third within twelve months from date of sale.

The purchaser shall have the sole use of the land contained in license, and the right to cut and remove the timber thereon noted in above Schedule, during a period of two years from the date of sale.

Plans containing full particulars may be obtained at the principal post-offices in the district, and at this office.
