CANTERBURY COLLEGE.—ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

IN pursuance of regulations under “The Canterbury College and Canterbury Agricultural College Act, 1896,” I, Alexander Cracroft Wilson, Returning Officer, do hereby notify that the under-mentioned person has been duly elected a member of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College:—

NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers was taken on 14th March, 1901, on a proposal “That ‘The Rating on Unimproved Value Act, 1896,’ be adopted in the Borough of Sydenham, and that henceforth property be rated upon the basis of the unimproved value thereof.” We further declare that at such poll 353 votes were recorded for and 193 votes against the proposal, and that the proposal was consequently carried.

In the matter of “The Public Works Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Otago Heads Road Board to take, for the purpose of a public road, part of Lot 25, Block B, Otakou Native Reserve.

The plans showing the above road can be seen at the Post-office, Otakou; and all persons affected thereby must set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the taking of such lands or the execution of such works, and must send objections in writing, within forty days from the first publication hereof, to the Chairman of the Otago Heads Road Board.

Dated at Portobello, this 14th day of March, 1901.

BOROUGH OF HAMILTON.

PROPOSAL TO ADOPT “THE RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE ACT, 1896.”

AT a poll taken at the Council Chambers, Hamilton, on Wednesday, 13th February, 1901, to adopt the above Act in the Borough of Hamilton, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal .. .. 77 votes.
Against the proposal .. .. 52 votes.
Majority for the proposal .. .. 25 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 30s. per annum, payable in advance. A less period than three months cannot be subscribed for.

Single copies of the Gazette, 6d, each.

Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertion.

Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged 23s.

All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.

The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.

The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening in each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before three o’clock of the day preceding publication.

Communications should be addressed to the Government Printer, Wellington, to whom post-office money-orders should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed “Public a/c,” and exchange added.

Postage- or duty-stamps cannot be received in payment from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are issued.

Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to prevent delay in publication a sufficient remittance should accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be returned with receipted account.
