Totara, Matai, and Rimu Timber, Pohangina Survey District,
for Sale by Public Auction for Cash.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 13th February, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that timber on the under-
mentioned Crown lands (about 2,790 trees, containing
about 1,863,000 superficial feet of timber, in Pohangina
Survey District) will be offered for sale by public auction,
in two lots, at the Courthouse, Palmerston North, on Tues-
day, the 26th March, 1901, at 2.30 p.m.

SCHEDULE.

Lot 1, Part of Section 48, Block VII., Pohangina. Area,
about 160 Acres.

Totara, about 950 trees, containing about 634,000 super-
ficial feet.

Matai, about 170 trees, containing about 88,000 superficial
feet.

Rimu, about 70 trees, containing about 91,000 superficial
feet.

Upset price, £625.

Lot 2, Part of Section 48, Block VII., Pohangina. Area,
about 88 Acres.

Totara, about 1,350 trees, containing about 900,000 super-
ficial feet.

Matai, about 190 trees, containing about 67,000 superficial
feet.

Rimu, about 60 trees, containing about 83,000 superficial
feet.

Upset price, £800.

TERMS OF SALE.

The timber is offered subject to the provisions of “The
State Forests Act, 1885,” and of the regulations made there-
under.

The purchaser shall pay the purchase-money in four
equal instalments, one-fourth and £1 1s. license-fee being
deposited on the fall of the hammer, one-fourth on the 1st
July, 1901, one-fourth on the 1st January, 1902, and the
remaining one-fourth on the 1st July, 1902.

The first payment shall be made by cash or marked
cheque. Approved promissory notes payable on demand to
be given for the remaining three-fourths of the purchase-
money, when the license to enter upon the land will be
issued. They will be presented for payment on the dates
stated above, but the Commissioner of State Forests re-
serves the right of presenting them at an earlier date if at
any time the Crown Lands Ranger reports that more than
one-fourth, one-half, or three-fourths of timber respectively
has been cut out previous to the dates mentioned.

The purchaser of each lot shall have the right to cut and
remove the timber on the land specified in above Schedule
during a period of three years from the date of sale. Should
one person purchase the two lots, this time will be extended
to five years.

The right to cut shall extend only to the marked dry or
dead totara, matai, and rimu timber on the areas shown on
plan. The provisions of the State forest regulations relative
to damage to forest by fires, injury to young growth, and
cutting of timber less than 12 in. in diameter will be strictly
enforced.

Plans containing full particulars may be obtained at the
principal post-offices in the district and at this office.

Land in Town of Parata for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 13th February, 1901.

THE under-mentioned section in the Township of
Parata will be offered for lease by public auction for
a term of twenty-one years, with right of renewal for a
further term of twenty-one years, at the District Lands and
Survey Office, Wellington, on Tuesday, the 26th March,
1901, at 12 o’clock noon. If not sold on the 26th March,
1901, the section will be open thereafter at the upset ground-
rental noted below.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
Parata Township.

Section 5, Block V.: Area, 1 rood 15 perches; upset
yearly rental, £2 10s. Weighted with £126 7s. 6d. for im-
provements.

This section is situated in the Parata Township, which is
on the main road and railway between Wellington and
Manawatu, the distance from the former being about thirty-
seven miles. The access is from Waikanae Station, which
is a few chains distant. The section comprises all flat land
in grass. The soil is of good quality, resting on a shingle
formation.

The improvements comprise 7½ chains of fencing, at 17s.
per chain—£6 7s. 6d.; three-roomed cottage and three out-
houses—£120: total, £126 7s. 6d.

57 Acres 2 Roods 22 Perches of Town and Rural Land in
the Waikakahi Settlement open for Selection on Lease in
Perpetuity.

Christchurch, 5th March, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned land
will be opened for selection on lease in perpetuity, at
the District Lands and Survey Offices, Christchurch and
Timaru, on Monday, the 15th April, 1901, under the pro-
visions of “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settle-
ments Consolidation Act, 1900,” the regulations made
thereunder, and the general conditions set forth in the
original pamphlet published for the disposal of the Waika-
kahi Settlement in 1899.

If more than one application be received for the same
section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be
decided by ballot at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch.

If the sections be not applied for on the 15th April, 1901,
they will be open for application thereafter at the District
Lands and Survey Offices, Christchurch and Timaru.

The above sections are situated in the Township of Mor-
ven, on each side of the main south line of railway, the dis-
tance from the Morven Railway-station to the furthest
section (Lot 3, Block VIII.) being about a quarter of a mile.
All comprise flat agricultural land. Residence and improve-
ments are not compulsory on these sections, and no declara-
tion is required from applicants. No person can hold more
than one section in the township.

This section is situated about three miles and a half west-
ward from Glenavy Township and Railway-station, with
which it is connected by good metalled road. It comprises
level agricultural land, about 15 acres of which is swamp:
the soil is good, but contains a large percentage of shingle.
There is a never-failing supply of excellent water flowing
through the swamp, and a county water-race runs along the
frontage of the section. Ten chains of boundary fencing,
along the road frontage, valued at £6 5s., belong to the
section.

Crown Land in Hawke’s Bay for Sale under Section 114 of
“The Land Act, 1892.”

IT is hereby notified, in pursuance of section 240 of “The
Land Act, 1892,” that the under-mentioned Crown land
will be offered to the holders of the adjoining lands under
section 114 of “The Land Act, 1892,” on or after the 17th
April, 1901.
