APPLICATION having been made to me to register a transfer of Lease No. 3895 from ROSINA BRANDT to WILLIAM ZUMSTEIN PRESTON THOMAS, of Otaki, Fruitgrower, being a reserve in Waihoanga No. 4 Block and the whole of the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. lxxiv., folio 222, and Vol. lxx., folio 258, and evidence having been lodged of the loss of the said lease, I hereby give notice that I will dispense with the production of the said lease, and register the transfer as requested, unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same on or before the 28th day of March, 1901.

PROPOSAL TO ADOPT “THE RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE ACT, 1896.”

AT a poll taken at the Council Chambers, Hamilton, on Wednesday, 13th February, 1901, to adopt the above Act in the Borough of Hamilton, the following votes were recorded :—

For the proposal .. .. 77 votes.
Against the proposal .. .. 52 votes.
Majority for the proposal .. .. 25 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and the several Acts amending the same, “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897,” “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899,” and “The Public Works Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the widening of Fraser’s Lane so as to make it 66 ft. wide; and also proposes, under the like provisions, to take, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” the lands described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that a plan showing the lands required to be taken, together with the names of the owners and occupiers of such lands, so far as they can be ascertained, is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, situate at Brandon Street and Panama Street, in the said city, and is open for public inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice to the said City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at the offices of such Council, situate in Brandon Street, in the same city.
