NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity at this office on Wednesday, 24th April, 1901.

If more than one application be received for the same section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day at 11 a.m. If the lands are not applied for on 24th April, 1901, they will remain open for selection thereafter at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill.

Totara, Matai, and Rimu Timber, Pohangina Survey District, for Sale by Public Auction for Cash.

NOTICE is hereby given that timber on the under-mentioned Crown lands (about 2,790 trees, containing about 1,863,000 superficial feet of timber, in Pohangina Survey District) will be offered for sale by public auction, in two lots, at the Courthouse, Palmerston North, on Tuesday, the 26th March, 1901, at 2.30 p.m.

SCHEDULE.

Lot 1, Part of Section 48, Block VII., Pohangina. Area, about 160 Acres.

Totara, about 950 trees, containing about 634,000 superficial feet.

Matai, about 170 trees, containing about 88,000 superficial feet.

Rimu, about 70 trees, containing about 91,000 superficial feet.

Upset price, £625.

Lot 2, Part of Section 48, Block VII., Pohangina. Area, about 88 Acres.

Totara, about 1,350 trees, containing about 900,000 superficial feet.

Matai, about 190 trees, containing about 67,000 superficial feet.

Rimu, about 60 trees, containing about 83,000 superficial feet.

Upset price, £800.

TERMS OF SALE.

The timber is offered subject to the provisions of “The State Forests Act, 1885,” and of the regulations made thereunder.

The purchaser shall pay the purchase-money in four equal instalments, one-fourth and £1 1s. license-fee being deposited on the fall of the hammer, one-fourth on the 1st July, 1901, one-fourth on the 1st January, 1902, and the remaining one-fourth on the 1st July, 1902.

The first payment shall be made by cash or marked cheque. Approved promissory notes payable on demand to be given for the remaining three-fourths of the purchase-money, when the license to enter upon the land will be issued. They will be presented for payment on the dates stated above, but the Commissioner of State Forests reserves the right of presenting them at an earlier date if at any time the Crown Lands Ranger reports that more than one-fourth, one-half, or three-fourths of timber respectively has been cut out previous to the dates mentioned.

The purchaser of each lot shall have the right to cut and remove the timber on the land specified in above Schedule during a period of three years from the date of sale. Should one person purchase the two lots, this time will be extended to five years.

The right to cut shall extend only to the marked dry or dead totara, matai, and rimu timber on the areas shown on plan. The provisions of the State forest regulations relative to damage to forest by fires, injury to young growth, and cutting of timber less than 12 in. in diameter will be strictly enforced.

Plans containing full particulars may be obtained at the principal post-offices in the district and at this office.

First-class Land in Tamai Hamlet, near Christchurch, open for Selection as a Workmen’s-home Allotment, for Lease in Perpetuity.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned Crown land will be opened for selection on lease in perpetuity, as a workmen’s-home allotment, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Monday, 15th April, 1901, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and the regulations made thereunder, and the general conditions set forth in the pamphlet for the disposal of the Tamai Hamlet in 1899.

If more than one application be received for the section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch.

If the section be not applied for on the 15th April, it will be open for application thereafter at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch.
