Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”


SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—HOKIANGA COUNTY.

Unsurveyed Second-class Land.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Block I., Whangape Survey District, and Blocks I. and V., Mangamuka Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1,150 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 34 of Block I., Whangape Survey District, and by the Taraire River; towards the east by the Taraire River and by unadjudicated Native land; towards the south by a public road; towards the west by Sections Nos. 3 and 2 of Block IV., Whangape Survey District; again towards the south by Section No. 2 aforesaid, and Section No. 1 of the same block; and again towards the west by a public road to the point of commencement.

Description of land: Broken and undulating forest land of good quality, well watered, fronting main Hokianga-Mangonui Road, about one to three miles from Broadwood Post-office, and eleven to thirteen miles from Kohukohu.

Also, all that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Block IV., Whangape Survey District, and containing by admeasurement 1,050 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 36 and 37 of Block I., Whangape Survey District; towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south generally by Sections Nos. 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4, of Block IV., Whangape Survey District; and towards the west by Sections Nos. 15 and 16 of Block III., Whangape Survey District, to the point of commencement.

Description of land: Forest land of good quality, broken and undulating, fronting main Hokianga-Mangonui Road, about twelve miles from Kohukohu, and two miles from Broadwood Post-office.

Cash price, 7s. 6d. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 4·5d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 3·6d. per acre per annum.

Altering Duty to be levied on “Caramel Cereal.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

PURSUANT to and in exercise of “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” and “The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby cancel and revoke a certain Order made under the said last-mentioned Act on the thirtieth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, directing a duty of one penny the pound to be levied on “caramel cereal,” and in lieu thereof do hereby direct that, from and after the date hereof, there shall be levied on the article known as “caramel cereal” a duty of one halfpenny the pound, such rate being fixed in proportion to the degree in which the said “caramel cereal” approximates in its quality or uses to roasted coffee.
