TERMS OF SALE.

The timber is offered subject to the provisions of “The State Forests Act, 1885,” and of the regulations made thereunder.

The purchaser shall pay the purchase-money in four equal instalments, one-fourth and £1 1s. license-fee being deposited on the fall of the hammer, one-fourth on the 1st July, 1901, one-fourth on the 1st January, 1902, and the remaining one-fourth on the 1st July, 1902.

The first payment shall be made by cash or marked cheque. Approved promissory notes payable on demand to be given for the remaining three-fourths of the purchase-money, when the license to enter upon the land will be issued. They will be presented for payment on the dates stated above, but the Commissioner of State Forests reserves the right of presenting them at an earlier date if at any time the Crown Lands Ranger reports that more than one-fourth, one-half, or three-fourths of timber respectively has been cut out previous to the dates mentioned.

The purchaser of each lot shall have the right to cut and remove the timber on the land specified in above Schedule during a period of three years from the date of sale. Should one person purchase the two lots, this time will be extended to five years.

The right to cut shall extend only to the marked dry or dead totara, matai, and rimu timber on the areas shown on plan. The provisions of the State forest regulations relative to damage to forest by fires, injury to young growth, and cutting of timber less than 12 in. in diameter will be strictly enforced.

Plans containing full particulars may be obtained at the principal post-offices in the district and at this office.

Pastoral Runs, Marlborough, for Lease by Public Auction.

IT is hereby notified that the under-mentioned pastoral runs will be offered by public auction, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Tuesday, the 26th day of February, 1901.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.

PASTORAL LANDS UNDER PART VI. OF “THE LAND ACT, 1892.”

Mount Fyffe Survey District.

Run No. 125 (Mount Fyffe): 6,300 acres. (With this run the Climatic Reserve, 4,175 acres, will be let from year to year. Special conditions will be inserted in the lease of the same to insure the preservation of the bush.) Term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £35.

Mount Fyffe and Greenburn Survey Districts.

Run No. 128 (Snowflake): 9,530 acres; term, six years; upset annual rental, £20. Possession will be given on date of sale.

DESCRIPTION AND LOCALITY OF RUNS.

Run No. 125 (Mount Fyffe): About 900 acres fairly good country, being well grassed with tussock and exotic grasses; about 2,300 acres light bush and scrub; remainder broken, rocky country, tussock on better portions; well watered. About eight miles from Kaikoura.

Run No. 128 (Snowflake): Lower portion of this run includes some well-grassed spurs, with patches of light, inferior mixed bush and scrub; remainder broken, mountainous country. About eight miles from Kaikoura.

One half-year’s rent, and £1 1s. lease-fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the usual declaration furnished.

  • Sections 1 and 1A, Block XV., Mangapakeha, are shown in Schedule as grouped in one lot of 280 acres 2 roods—half-yearly rent, £34 19s. 1d.; but in the event of Mr. Taplin, the present tenant of Section 1, becoming the lessee of the latter section, in terms of section 57 of the Act, Section 1A—area, 185 acres 1 rood—will be offered by itself on the 19th day of March, 1901, at a half-yearly rental of £20 1s. 5d.

† The lessee of Section 2 of Block XV. will have to take a temporary lease of Sections Nos. 1B and 1C, Block XV., Mangapakeha Survey District; and in the event of the new surveyed road being made, then the lessee of Section 1, Block XV., Mangapakeha Survey District, will be required to select Section No. 1C, and the lessee of Section No. 1A, Block XV., Mangapakeha Survey District, will be required to select Section No. 1B.
