Sitting of Native Appellate Court at Waikouaiti.

Native Land Court Office, Wellington, 23rd January, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Native Appellate Court will sit at Waikouaiti on the 26th day of February, 1901, to hear and determine the several appeals from the decisions of the Native Land Court set forth in the Schedule hereto. All persons interested in the said applications are hereby notified to attend at the time and place aforesaid.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Native Appellate Court will sit at Kaiapoi on the 15th day of February, 1901, to hear and determine the appeal from the decision of the Native Land Court set forth in the Schedule hereto. All persons interested in the said application are hereby notified to attend at the time and place aforesaid.

79 Native Land Court Office, Wellington, 30th January, 1901.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the 15th day of August, 1898, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council, has authorised the said Court to exercise in respect of the lands specified in the Schedule hereto the jurisdiction conferred by subsection (10) of section 14 of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” that is to say, to determine whether or not the said lands or any part thereof were, on the investigation of title thereto, intended by the Native Land Court, or by the nominal owner or owners of such lands, to be held by such nominal owner or owners in trust for Natives not named in the title, and to determine who are the Natives (if any) entitled beneficially to such lands, and to order the inclusion of such Natives in the title, either together with or in lieu of the nominal owners or any of them, and for the purpose aforesaid to order the cancellation or amendment of any existing instruments of title, and the issue of such new Crown grants or other instruments of title as may be necessary, and generally to exercise in respect of the said lands all the jurisdiction and powers conferred on the Native Land Court by subsection (10) of section 14 of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894”:

Now, therefore, notice is hereby given that the said matters will be heard and determined by the Native Land Court sitting at Waikouaiti on the 26th day of February, 1901, or as soon thereafter as the business of the Court will allow.

ALL those parcels of land, situate in the Provincial District of Otago, known as Sections Nos. 101 and 102, and Township Reserve, Block XII., Waikouaiti Native Reserve, being the lands comprised in orders of the Native Land Court dated 26th March, 1887.
