Establishment of New Government Industrial Schools.

Education Department,
Wellington, 19th January, 1901.

BY virtue of the power vested in me by sections 4 and 10
of “The Industrial Schools Act, 1882,” I, William
Campbell Walker, the Minister of Education, do hereby
notify that I have established Government Industrial
Schools and appointed Managers thereof, within the mean-
ing and for the purposes of the said Act, at the following
places, viz:—
Te Oranga Home, situate in Burwood, Canterbury Dis-
trict, as from the 7th day of September, 1900. Mrs. Ellen
Theresa Branting to be Manager.
Receiving Home, situate in Tinakori Road (No. 59),
Wellington, as from the 20th day of September, 1900. Mrs.
Ella Stuart Dick to be Manager.
Receiving Home, situate at the corner of Barbadoes and
Lichfield Streets, Christchurch, as from the 19th October,
1900. Miss Anna Blachford Cox to be Manager.

Pastoral Runs, Otago, for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned pas-
toral lands will be submitted to public auction for
lease on Tuesday, the 5th day of March, 1901, at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, at 11 o’clock a.m.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

Pastoral Lands under Part VI. of “The Land Act, 1892.”
RUN No. 353c (Class I.), Tuapeka and Maniototo Counties:
Area, 8,600 acres; term, fourteen years; upset annual
rental, £25. Situated immediately north of Run No. 2, and
extends across the Lammerlaw Ranges to the head-waters of
the Taieri River.

Sections 4 to 7, and 10 to 13, Block VI., 27, 28, and 29,
Block V., and 8 and 10 to 16, Block VII., Lower Hawea
District (Class II.), Lake County: Area, 4,452 acres and
39 perches; term, 10 years; upset annual rental, £10.
Situated on the Clutha River, about three miles from New-
castle.

Sections 4, 5, 10, 11, 16, 17, 20 to 24, and 24A, Block IV.,
30, Block V., and 3, Block VI., Lower Hawea District
(Class II.), Lake County: Area, 1,774 acres and 5 perches;
term, ten years; upset annual rental, £4. Situated on the
Hawea River about three miles from Newcastle.

Run No. 346 (Class I.), Lake County: Area, 14,300 acres;
term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £5; valuation
for improvements, £210. Situated at the head of Lake
Wakatipu, adjacent to Glenorchy.

Run No. 346D (Class I.), Lake County: Area, 16,000 acres;
term, fourteen years; upset annual rental, £15; valuation
for improvements, £320 13s. Situated at the head of Lake
Wakatipu, adjacent to Glenorchy.

Run No. 17A and Section 1, Block VIII., Domet District,
Waitaki County: Area, 4,257 acres; term, ten years; upset
annual rental, £25; valuation for improvements, £155
2s. 6d. Situated on the south side of the Otekaike River,
about six miles from Livingstone.

Possession of above runs will be given on day of sale.
Valuation for improvements must be paid to the Receiver
of Land Revenue, Dunedin, before the licensees will be let
into possession.

The above runs will be sold generally in accordance with
the provisions of Part VI. of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Purchaser must deposit statutory declarations required by
Section 62 of “The Land Act, 1892,” and pay the first half-
year’s rent, together with license-fee (£1 1s.), on fall of the
hammer.

in seven years in half-yearly instalments of £2 3s. 3d. Total half-
yearly payment, £55 7s. 3d.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned small
grazing-runs will be open for lease on application on
Tuesday, the 26th February, 1901, at the half-yearly
rentals noted. In the event of more than one application
being received for the same run on the same day, priority
of selection will be decided by ballot on the following day,
at 11 a.m.
