NOTE.—Generally fine weather, with intervals of drizzly
weather. Two sudden thunderstorms on 14th and 24th, with
heavy rain. Greatest rainfall on 19th, 0·350 in. Prevailing
N.W. and N. winds. Maximum temperature in shade 78·5°,
minimum 38°; mean temperature of dew-point, 44·4°;
mean humidity, .

Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery-superintendents’
Certificates.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 1st October, 1901.

AN examination of candidates for certificates as First-
and Second-class Mine-managers and Battery-super-
intendents under “The Mining Act, 1898,” and First- and
Second-class Mine-managers under “The Coal-mines Act,
1891,” will be held on Tuesday, the 28th January, 1902, and
three following days, at places to be hereafter named. All
applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1, must
be addressed to “The Secretary of the Board of Examiners
under the Mining Act or Coal-mines Act, Wellington,” and
must be received before the 16th December, or they will not
be dealt with until the following examination. Forms of
application may be obtained at Schools of Mines, Thames,
Waihi, and Coromandel, also from Inspector of Mines,
Thames, Westport, and Dunedin.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Lands in Auckland Land District forfeited and surrendered.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 9th December, 1901.

IT is hereby notified that, the leases and licenses of the
under-mentioned Crown lands having been voluntarily
surrendered by the lessees and licensees thereof, or for-
feited by resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said
lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provi-
sions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
