Land taken in the City of Wellington for Street-widening Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain public work, to wit, the widening of Willis Street:

And whereas the Council of the City of Wellington has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, together with a statutory declaration, required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the said public work, and shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington.

Amended Regulation for Trout-, Perch-, and Tench-fishing, Southern Acclimatisation District, Ashley River.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At Christchurch, this first day of November, 1900.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the seventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighth day of September then instant, certain regulations were made under “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), providing for trout-, perch-, and tench-fishing within the Southern Acclimatisation District as therein defined:

And whereas it is expedient to amend Regulation No. 13 of the said regulations in manner hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order as follows:—

Regulation No. 13 of the regulations made under “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” dated the seventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, is hereby amended by adding thereto the following words: “Provided that nothing herein contained shall prevent the placing of any net other than a stake-net in or across the mouth or entrance of the following river—viz., the Ashley River—or at any place in such river seaward of a straight line drawn from the southernmost corner of Rural Section No. 716, Rangiora Survey District, on the northern bank of the said Ashley River, thence through the south-easternmost corner of Rural Section No. 23889, Rangiora Survey District, to a point on the southern bank of the said Ashley River, for the purpose of taking indigenous fish only, nor render any person liable to any penalty for so doing, or for taking indigenous fish by such means.”

Altering Hours for Sunday-morning Attendance at certain Telegraph-offices.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At Christchurch, this second day of November, 1900.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers me thereunto enabling in this behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its dependencies, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby order and direct that the hours of attendance to be observed by the various telegraph-offices enumerated in the Order in Council dated the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred, be modified and altered as follows, that is to say: Sunday-morning attendance shall be from 9.30 to 10 o’clock instead of from 10 to 10.30 o’clock.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor by the owners of the land described in the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the division order of the Native Land Court under the provisions of “The Native Land Division Act, 1882,” bearing date the nineteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has recommended that such restrictions be removed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the fifty-second section of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and in accordance with the recommendation of the Native Land Court, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said division order on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.


SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land, containing 101 acres and 33 perches, more or less, situate in the Poverty Bay District, known as Manukawhitikitiki C, held under division order of the Native Land Court, dated the 19th day of September, 1883, in favour of Ruta Tawhiao and another, and containing the following restrictions: “That the grantees shall not alienate except with the consent of the Governor, save by demise, for a term not exceeding twenty-one years.”

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this first day of November, one thousand nine hundred.
