  1. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

  2. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

  3. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  4. The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

THE following notice of the election of a member of a Road Board has been received at this office, and is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 4 acres 2 roods 23 perches, more or less, being Lots 306 to 317 (both included), and Lots 319 to 325 (both included), parts of Rural Section 4454, in the Township of Ashley, in the Provincial District of Canterbury. These lots are between the road leading to Saltwater Creek and the railway on the one side, and the River Ashley on the other side. The registered owner is William Gilkinson, described as of Kaiapoi, banker, who cannot be traced. The land is, as to part, in the occupation of John McLagan, of Ashley Bank.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony :

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section 484, Town of Westport, in the Provincial District of Nelson, fronting Russell Street. The land is Crown-granted to Guenther Frederick Charles Toelle, of whom nothing can be traced. Also,—

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section 488, in the said Town of Westport, fronting Russell Street. The land is Crown-granted to William Henry Longbottom, of whom nothing can be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owners of either of the above-described lands are, and believes that such owners respectively are not in the colony :

Now, this notice calls upon such owners respectively, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee their titles respectively to the lands respectively specified in this notice; and, if such owners do not, within the time limited, so establish their or either of their titles, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” in respect of both the said parcels of land, or such one of them as to which the owner shall not appear.

AUCKLAND.—Ladies’ silver watch, No. 124359, and chain; silver hunting-watch, No. 51689, with chain and pendants; Waltham watch, No. 4509672, and brass chain; three handbags, four umbrellas, bag of kauri-gum, mackintosh, gold locket, two gold pins, and sundries.

WELLINGTON.—Two gold rings, gold ornament, three silver brooches, tweed overcoat, two boas, and sundries.

NELSON.—Tweed overcoat, pea-rifle, and two purses.
