  • The remaining suburbs do not lie within borough boundaries, and particulars respecting them have not been obtained for the Vital Statistics.

Deaths occurring at hospitals, of persons not residents of the borough wherein the hospital is situated, have been allotted in each case to the borough where the disease was contracted, and not to that in which the death actually took place.

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 432, against 396 in May—an increase of 36. The deaths in June were 182—an increase of 1 on the number in May. Of the total deaths, males contributed 99, females 83. Forty-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 24·18 per cent. of the whole number; 35 of these were under one year of age.

There were fifty-one deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: Eight men, 65, 66 (two), 68, 76, 77, 87, 95, and five women, 67, 71, 75, 79 (two), died at Auckland; six men, 72; 73, 74, 76, 77. 82, and six women, 65, 70, 80, 83, 87 (two), at Wellington; six men, 66, 70, 71, 76, 77, 78, and three women, 68, 77, 84, at Christchurch; and eight men, 65, 68, 69, 72, 81, 84, 85, 86, and nine women, 66, 68 (two), 70, 76, 77, 78, 80, 81, at Dunedin.
