Leases forfeited in the Otago Land District.

IT is hereby notified that, the leases of the under-mentioned Crown lands having been forfeited by resolutions of the Otago Land Board, the said lands have reverted to the Crown under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Reserves in Scarborough Township, Pahiatua County, for Lease by Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,

IT is hereby notified, in terms of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” that written tenders will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 25th July, 1900, for the lease of the under-mentioned sections. If any sections are unapplied-for on the above date, they will remain open for selection at the upset rentals and for the terms stated below.

Term, fourteen years.

These reserves are situated in the Scarborough Township, and, with the exception of Section 94, Block X., which is rough and partly wet, are all level and in grass.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or post-office order for six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 ls. lease-fee.

  2. There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of sections which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  4. The leases shall be for the term of years as specified above, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.

  5. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  7. The land shall not be cropped nor broken up, except with the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  8. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and he shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  9. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the lease, and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  10. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee should fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within sixty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Land in Makukupara Village, Akitio County, for Sale by Public Auction.

THE under-mentioned section will be submitted to public auction for sale for cash, at the Road Inspector’s offices, Makukupara (Waione), on Wednesday, the 1st August, 1900, at 12 o’clock noon.

This section is situated at the junction of the Akitio River and Makukupara Stream, the access to Makukupara being from Pongaroa or Weber, which are distant about nine and seven miles respectively. The lot comprises mostly flat land, all felled and grassed, the soil being of good quality, resting on papa formation; watered by Makukupara Stream.

TERMS OF SALE.

One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown grant fee, within thirty days thereafter, otherwise the part of the purchase-money paid by way of deposit will be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.

There are no restrictions or limitations imposed on the purchaser of this section.

Kauri Timber, Auckland, for Sale by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 7th July, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned kauri timber, standing on Section 3, Block V., Opua-whanga Survey District, Whangarei County, will be offered for sale by public auction, at this office, on Friday, the 31st day of August, 1900, at 11 o’clock a.m. :

104 green kauri-trees, containing 300,000 superficial feet. Upset price, £150.

Conditions of Sale.—One-half purchase-money to be paid in cash or marked cheque on the fall of the hammer, the balance within twelve months thereafter. Timber to be removed within two years from date of sale.
