Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond, namely,—

Port of Dunedin.

Portion of a brick building, roofed with slate, situated on Block 51, Reserve 5, High Street, Dunedin, to be known as

MENDELSOHN’S BOND.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this seventh day of July, one thousand nine hundred.

Commissioner’s Decisions under Tariff Acts.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret the Customs and Excise Duties Acts in relation to the under-mentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Articles, and how classed. Rate of Duty.
1900/588. Belt-dressing, solid, for preventing belting from slipping; as n.o.e. Free.
*1900/521–522. Billiard-furniture, viz.,—
Balls; as fancy goods 20 per cent.
Brass rods and runners; as brass manufactures n.o.e. 20 per cent.
Cues; as fancy goods or woodenware n.o.e. 20 per cent.
Cue-clips; as hardware 20 per cent.
Cue-cases; as woodenware n.o.e., hardware, or leather manufactures, according to material 20 per cent.

1900/575. Fasteners, “Premier,” claimed free as buttons; as haberdashery n.o.e. 20 per cent.
1900/498. Flags, small, decorative, or toy; as fancy goods 20 per cent.
1900/564. Flax sheeting, when cut up under supervision into sizes suitable for making coin-bags and coin-stockings (subject to declaration under Circular 1031, of 16th November, 1898); as a. and m.s. Free.
1900/595. Paris, Spanish, and English white; as whiting 1s. the cwt.
1900/546. Sprudel salt; as druggists’ sundries n.o.e. 20 per cent.
1900/550. Spades, whale or yam; as spades Free.

Appointment of Agent of the Public Trustee at Christchurch.

has been appointed to succeed the late J. J. M. Hamilton as District Agent for the Public Trustee at Christchurch, as from the 9th instant.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 acre, more or less, being Allotment 285, having frontages to Grosvenor and King Streets, Town of Cambridge East, in the Provincial District of Auckland. The land was Crown-granted to one Mathew Foulerton, of whom nothing is traceable. Mr. J. R. S. Richardson, of Cambridge, is in occupation of the land.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 rood 24 perches, more or less, situated in the Town of Cobden and Provincial District of Nelson, being Sections 172 and 173 on the plan of the said town, at the corner of Newcastle and Fox Streets. The last registered owners are Meriton Sedgwick, of Nelson, and James Alexander Sedgwick, described as of Dunedin, leather-dressers, of whom nothing can be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
