THE following special order, made by the Parihaka Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
Special Order.
Notice is hereby given that the following special order was made and recorded in the books of the Parihaka Road Board on the 16th day of April, 1900, and confirmed on the 21st day of May, 1900, i.e.:—
“That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £1,200, under ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ and subsection 1 of section 2 of ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1899,’ for the purpose of draining, forming, culverting, and metalling the Opua Road from the end of present metal to a point about 15 chains east of western boundary of Section 19, Block 7, a special rate of 3½d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands: i.e., Subsections 9 and 11, Block 6; Subsections 5, 6, 13, 15, and 17, Block 7; Subsections 2, 3, and 4, Block 10; and half of each of Subsection 7, Block 6, Subsections 7 and 19, Block 7, and Section 53, Block 9: all of which are situated in the Opunake Survey District, and constituting the Opua No. 2 Special Rating District. The said rate to be an annually recurring rate for twenty-six years, payable in one instalment on the 1st day of January in each year.”
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made, passed, and confirmed in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans, Bruce County.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Bruce County Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

Result of poll taken on the 28th day of May, 1900, upon the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,800, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the construction and metalling of certain roads in the Hillend Special Works District:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 61; number of votes on roll, 96: Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 47; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 14; votes not recorded, 35.
As the prescribed majority of votes required were recorded in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Number of ratepayers on roll, 250; number of votes on roll, 338: Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 130; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 14; votes not recorded, 194.
As the prescribed majority of votes required were recorded in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Number of ratepayers on roll, 62; number of votes on roll, 99: Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 39; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 24; number of votes not recorded, 36.
As the prescribed majority of votes required were recorded in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

As the prescribed majority of votes required were recorded in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.
In the matter of the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Invercargill to raise a special loan of £12,000 for the purpose of constructing and establishing public works for promoting the convenience and health of the inhabitants of the said borough; and in the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and its amendments.
Public notice is hereby given that at the poll taken on Tuesday, the 22nd day of May, 1900, on the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Invercargill to raise by way of special loan the sum of £12,000 for the purpose of constructing and establishing public works which are deemed by the said Council to be necessary for promoting the convenience and health of the inhabitants of the said borough, and which said proposal is contained in a notice published in the Southland Times newspaper on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th days of April last, the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 211; against the proposal, 75: majority in favour of the proposal, 136; informal, 1.
I therefore declare the resolution in favour of the said proposal to be duly carried.
