A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and the purchase thereof has been concluded as by the said Act is provided: And whereas it is enacted by the said Act that all land so acquired shall be proclaimed as Crown land subject to the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and be deemed to be Crown land subject to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894.”
SCHEDULE.
BARNego SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 7,019 acres 1 rood 39 poles, more or less, comprised in the four parcels of land described below, situated in Blocks XI. and III., Waitahuna East Survey District; Blocks XI., XIII., VI., III., II., and I., Hillend Survey District; and Block XVII., Town of Balclutha. Parcel No. 1, containing by admeasurement 1,377 acres and 14 poles, more or less: bounded towards the north-west by the road-line fronting Sections Nos. 22, 23, and 12, Block XI., Waitahuna East Survey District; towards the north-east and east generally by the road-line fronting Sections Nos. 11, 24, 25, and 26, towards the south and east by Section No. 29, again towards the north-east by Section No. 30, all of said Block XI.; towards the south-east by part of Section No. 2, Block III.; again towards the south by the road fronting Sections Nos. 2 and 4, and towards the west and north by part of Section No. 4, again towards the west by said Section No. 4, and towards the south-west by a road-line bounding said Section No. 4, all of Block III., Waitahuna East Survey District. Parcel No. 2, containing by admeasurement 20 acres 1 rood, more or less: bounded towards the north-west and north-east by road-lines fronting Section No. 31, Block XI., Waitahuna East Survey District, and Section No. 4, Block XIII., Hillend Survey District; and towards the south generally by Section No. 1 of said Block XIII., and by part of said Section No. 31. Parcel No. 3, containing by admeasurement 1,781 acres 2 roods 3 poles, more or less: bounded towards the north-west by the road-line intersecting Section No. 6, Block XI., Hillend Survey District, and by a road-line bounding that section; towards the east, north, and west by Section No. 1, Block XIII.; towards the east and north-east by the road fronting Sections Nos. 2, Block XIII., and 3, Block VI., towards the south by Sections Nos. 2 of 5 and 1 of 5, towards the east by Section No. 1 of 5, towards the south by Section No. 7, towards the south-west by the road-line fronting Section No. 4, all of said Block VI.; and again towards the west and south by Block III., Hillend Survey District. Parcel No. 4, containing by admeasurement 3,840 acres 2 roods 20 poles, more or less: bounded towards the west by Section No. 2 of 35, Block III., Hillend Survey District; towards the south, west, north-west, and north by the road-lines fronting Sections Nos. 34, 1 of 33, 2 of 33, 1 of 32, 1 of 27, 2 of 27, and 3 of 27, Block III.; towards the east by Block VI.; again towards the south by the road fronting Sections Nos. 3 of 28, 2 of 28, and 1 of 28, Block III.; again towards the east by the road fronting Section No. 2 of 30; again towards the north by Sections Nos. 1 of 29 and 2 of 29, Block III.; again towards the east by Block VI.; again towards the north-west, north, east, and towards the south-east by the road fronting Sections Nos. 10, 2 of 13, 12, Block VI., and Nos. 40, 39, and 38, Block I.; again towards the east generally by Section No. 34, Block I., by parts of Sections Nos. 33, Block I., and 25, Block II.; again towards the north by the road fronting Section No. 11, Block XVII., Town of Balclutha; again towards the east by parts of Sections Nos. 11, 9, and 5, Block XVII.; again towards the south and east by Section No. 1, Block XXVI., Town of Balclutha; again towards the south and west by the road along the Clutha River bank, by the Clutha River, and again by a road-line skirting the river-bank; again towards the north by Section No. 41, Block II., Hillend Survey District; again towards the south-west by the roads fronting Sections Nos. 21, 20, and 19, Block II.; again towards the west and south by Section No. 48; again towards the west by the road along Clutha River bank, by the road between Sections Nos. 44 and 45, and by parts of Sections Nos. 45, 5, 4, and 8, Block II.; and towards the north by Section No. 2 of 35, Block III. Excepting from the above-described areas all public roads, and Section No. 49, Block II., Hillend Survey District. As the above-described areas are delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 19219, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with green.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred.
