Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Wellington, 28th March, 1900.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the under-mentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of objection to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 11742.—26th June, 1899.—WILLIAM DABB, of “Star-cross,” Oxford Road, Croydon, Victoria, Mechanical Engineer. An improved mop for household and other purposes, having a rotatable head.*

Claims.—(1.) In a mop for household and other purposes, the combination with a socket adapted to be secured upon a handle, and provided at one end with a bearing at an angle to said socket, of a spindle rotatable in said bearing, and a hand-wheel mounted on said bearing and arranged to rotate said spindle. (2.) In a mop for household and other purposes, in combination, a sleeve, a bearing in which said sleeve is rotatable, hand-operated gear for driving said sleeve, and a spindle passing therethrough and carrying the head of the mop. (3.) In a mop for household and other purposes, having a rotatable head, the combination with a tapering sleeve of a bearing in which said sleeve is rotatable, a hand-wheel carrying a bevel-gear, a spindle for carrying the mop-head, and a bevel pinion on the end of the sleeve nearest said mop-head and meshing with the gear on the hand-wheel. (4.) In a mop, the combination with a bearing, of a sleeve rotatable therein, a spindle passing through said sleeve, a hand-wheel for actuating the sleeve and spindle, and a set-screw in the wheel adapted to bear against the side of said bearing to lock said wheel and prevent the mop-head from turning.

No. 11745.—26th June, 1899.—JACOB BROWN and ARTHUR BROWN, both of 2, Downing Street, Manchester, England, Special-apparatus Manufacturers. Improvements in and relating to saucepans and other receptacles for heating and boiling milk and other liquids.*

Claim.—In saucepans for holding milk and other liquids, the combination of an outer and inner receptacle, the upper edge of the inner receptacle being considerably below the upper edge of the outer receptacle, and the inner receptacle near its bottom formed with a hole or holes, whereby a constant circulation of the liquid over the top of the inner vessel is obtained through the said receptacles, all substantially as set forth.

No. 11819.—17th July, 1899.—LAMBERT ALLAN MURDOCH McKAIL, of Tooronga Grove, Auburn, Victoria, Cashier. An improved sash-fastener.*

Claims.—(1.) An improved sash-fastener consisting of a bolt-carrier in which slides a bolt having a finger-push, and on the front end a lip engaging with a tumbling stop pivoted to a catch-bolt, all as and for the purposes described, and as illustrated in the drawings. (2.) An improved sash-fastener consisting of a bolt sliding in a carrier and into a catch, and retained in the catch by a front tumbling stop engaging with a lip, and in the carrier by a back tumbling stop, all as and for the purposes described, and as illustrated in the drawings. (3.) An improved sash-fastener consisting of a bolt with a finger-push at its top and a lip at its front end, a carrier having a slot to accommodate the finger-push, and a tumbling stop with a finger-push portion at its rear end, and a catch to which is pivoted a tumbling stop, all as and for the purposes described, and as illustrated in the drawings.

No. 12083.—13th October, 1899.—WILLIAM NATHANIEL EDWARD MASON, of St. Mary Street, Wellington, New Zealand, Brassfinisher, and JOHN WRIGHT, of Willis Street, Wellington aforesaid, Sawmiller. Improvements in jugs or vessels for milk and the like.*

Claims.—(1.) In a jug or similar vessel for keeping milk and the like hot or cold, in combination, an inner lining made watertight to a top provided on the jug, the spout of the jug reaching to the lining, and a nozzle for introducing hot or cold water to the space between the jug and the lining, substantially as set forth. (2.) The improvements in jugs or vessels for milk and the like, consisting of parts constructed, arranged, and operating substantially as set forth.
