HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

LAND REQUIRED FOR GRAVEL-PIT.

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” it is hereby notified that the Horowhenua County Council requires the land described hereunder for the purpose of a gravel-pit. A plan marked A, showing position of the same, will be open for public inspection at the County Office, Levin, during office-hours, for a period of forty days from date hereof. All persons affected by the taking of the land are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections thereto, and to serve the same upon the County Clerk, at Levin, before the expiration of forty days from the date hereof.

Description of Land.

All that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 26 perches, situated in Block VI., Kaitawa Survey District, being part of Ngawhakangutu North. Commencing at Wellington–Manawatu Railway-line boundary, eastern side, Peg I. to Peg II., 309·2 links; Peg II. to Peg III., 199·5 links; Peg III. to IV., 392·8 links; Peg IV. to V., 146·3 links; Peg V. to Peg O, 734·3 links, to railway-line; thence northwards to starting-point, Peg I., in northerly direction 555·6 links: all as shown on a plan marked A, and thereon coloured yellow, now on view for a period of forty days from this date at the County Office, Levin, aforesaid.

Names of owners: J. Gillies, Mrs. E. W. Hombersley, T. C. Williams, and Trustees in estate of Jas. H. Wallace.

GEORGE KING AND CO. (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that the following resolution was passed at a meeting of the company held on Monday, the 22nd January, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on Wednesday, the 7th February, 1900:—
“That the company be wound up voluntarily under the provisions of the Companies Acts, and that Mr. George King be appointed Liquidator.”

In the matter of the Canterbury Cricket and Athletic Sports Ground Company (Limited).

NOTICE is hereby given that at a special general meeting of the above-named company, held at 171, Hereford Street, Christchurch, on the 29th day of December, 1899, the following special resolution was passed; and at a subsequent special general meeting of the said company, held at the same place on the 19th day of January, 1900, the said resolution was duly confirmed:—
“That the capital of the company be increased by the creation of 2,000 new shares of £1, to be called preference shares, to which there shall be attached the special rights and privileges following, that is to say:—
“(a.) The holders of such preference shares will be entitled to a cumulative preferential dividend at the rate of £5 per cent. per annum on the capital for the time being paid up on such shares respectively.
“(b.) Whenever the profits of the company in respect of any year shall be more than sufficient to pay the preferential dividend aforesaid to the close of such year, and also a dividend for such year at a rate exceeding £5 per cent. per annum on the ordinary shares, the holders of the preference shares shall be entitled to participate in the surplus pari passu with the holders of the other shares.
“(c.) The capital paid up on the preference shares shall not be liable to cancellation or reduction in respect of loss or depreciation.
“(d.) In the event of the winding-up of the company, the holders of the preference shares shall be entitled to have the surplus assets applied in paying off the capital paid up on the preference shares held by them respectively, and in any arrears (if any) of the preferential dividend aforesaid to the commencement of the winding-up.
“(e.) The preference shares shall be issued to such persons and on such terms and conditions as the Board shall think fit.”
