THE under-mentioned sections will be submitted to public auction for sale for cash, at Levin, on Tuesday, the 6th March, 1900, at 12 o’clock noon.

One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee, within thirty days thereafter, otherwise the part of the purchase-money paid by way of deposit will be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.

There are no restrictions or limitations imposed on the purchasers of these sections.

Land at Levin Township for Lease by Public Tender.

IT is hereby notified, in terms of “The Land Act, 1892,” that written tenders will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the 6th March, 1900, for the lease of the under-mentioned sections. If any sections are unapplied-for on the above date, they will remain open for selection at the upset rentals and for the terms stated below.

Term, fourteen years.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or post-office order for six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease-fee.

  2. There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of sections which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  4. The leases shall be for the term of years as specified above, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.

  5. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  7. The land shall not be cropped nor broken up, except with the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  8. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and he shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  9. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the lease, and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  10. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee should fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within sixty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Reserves in Canterbury for Lease by Written Tender.

Christchurch, 8th January, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 12 noon on Wednesday, the 28th February, 1900, for the leases of the under-mentioned reserves.

In the event of no tender being received at the time named for any of the lots, they will remain open for lease on application at the upset rentals and for the terms stated herein.

GERALDINE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Locality and Description of Reserves.

Reserve No. 60 is situated near Godley Head, between Taylor’s Mistake and Lyttelton Harbour, and comprises open hill, ranging from sea-level to 804 ft. elevation, and carrying native and English grasses.

Reserve No. 61 is situated at Adderley Head, Port Lyttelton, access thereto being obtainable only by water. The land occupied by the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s pilot-station in Little Port Cooper, the site of the look-out house on the head, and right of way between the two are reserved from lease. The reserve consists of pastoral hill-land, carrying native and English grasses.

Reserve No. 62A is situated at Camp Bay, Port Lyttelton, and comprises land of the same quality as Reserve No. 61. The lessee will be required to keep securely fenced off the point within the reserve on which are situated some graves.

Part of Reserve No. 1650 is situated on the south-east side of the main line of railway, about two miles and a half south-west of the South Rangitata Station, and comprises open plain tussock land of light quality.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or money-order for the amount of six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease-fee.

  2. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender, except in the case of Reserve No. 60, of which possession will be given on 1st April, 1900.
