HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under paragraph 259, Volunteer Regulations, of the under-mentioned appointments:—

Ashburton Guards Rifle Volunteers.

Captain William Sparrow, Unattached Active List, New Zealand Volunteers, to be Captain, with present seniority in the New Zealand Volunteer Force.

Lieutenant Robert Moncrieff Cuthbertson, Unattached Active List, New Zealand Volunteers, to be Lieutenant, with present seniority in the New Zealand Volunteer Force.

Licensing of Vehicles.—By-law by Horowhenua County Council.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 26th July, 1899.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 311 of “The Counties Act, 1886,” that so much of the By-law No. VI., made by the Horowhenua County Council, and sealed on the 17th day of June, 1899, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the county funds for the licensing of vehicles, has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.
