"The Agricultural and Pastoral Statistics Act, 1895."—Acreage and Actual Yields in Corn-crops, 1898–99.—Notice No. 544.
Department of Agriculture, Wellington, 13th July, 1899.
THE New Zealand Gazette of the 26th January and the Supplement of the 13th April last contained respectively an interim return giving an estimate of the yields of wheat, oats, and barley, with the acreage under other cereals, and the complete returns of all crops, as also number of horses, cattle, and pigs at 15th November, and sheep at 30th April, 1898. The following tables show the acreages, actual yields per acre, and total returns.
The weather during harvest in the North Island and northern portion of the Middle Island was wet, consequently a considerable quantity of grain was damaged both in the stock and stack.
