Altering the Name of the Borough of Newton.

RANFURLY, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by sections two and three of “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor in Council may, at the request or with the consent of the Council of any county, city, or borough, alter the geographical name or designation of any place or locality in the colony:

And whereas the Newton Borough Council has requested that the present name of “Newton” be altered as hereinafter mentioned, and it appears expedient to comply with such request:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Borough of Newton aforesaid shall, on and after the sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, be called and known by the name of “Grey Lynn,” and the name of the said Borough of Newton is hereby altered accordingly.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Wellington Acclimatisation District redefined.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint those parts of the said colony described in the Schedule hereto to be a district under the said Act, and I do further appoint such district to be known as the “Wellington Acclimatisation District”; and I do hereby revoke all previous notifications defining the said district.


SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-west and north generally by the Counties of Wanganui and Hawke’s Bay from the mouth of the Wangaehu River to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence towards the east generally by the summit of that range to the Feilding and District Acclimatisation District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 38, 4th May, 1899; thence towards the south-west, south-east, and north-east generally by that district and the Counties of Waipawa and Patangata to the sea at the mouth of the Waimata River; and thence again towards the south-east, south, and west generally by the sea to the Wangaehu River aforesaid, including Kapiti and adjacent islands. The aforesaid area comprises the Counties of Hutt, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Akitio, Horowhenua, and Rangitikei, and parts of the Counties of Manawatu and Oroua, together with the Boroughs of Carterton, Foxton, Greytown, Karori, Lower Hutt, Marton, Masterton, Melrose, Onslow, Palmerston North, Pahiatua, Petone, and City of Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Trustees appointed for the Whangarei Public Cemetery.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the forty-fifth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the local authority specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to have the control and management of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the said Schedule; and I do hereby declare that the appointment of the said local authority shall date from the first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

The Whangarei Borough Council. WHANGAREI.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 50 acres, more or less, situate in the Purua Survey District, and being a portion of the block called or known by the name of the Kioreroa, and numbered 3494A. Bounded towards the north by the Raumanga Nos. 2 and 1 Blocks, 2701 links; towards the east by a line, 2000 links; towards the south by a line, 2298 links; and towards the west by a road-line, 2040 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Trustees appointed for the Burke’s Pass Public Cemetery.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the forty-fifth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the local authority specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees to have the control and management of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the said Schedule.

The Mackenzie County Council. BURKE’S PASS.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 1284, situated in Block VIII., Burke Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Burke’s Pass Road, and towards the east, south, and west by Rural Section No. 20099.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
