Rural Lands in the Marlborough Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine; and that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Notice of Application to proclaim the Waikai River, together with all its Tributaries, Watercourses for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by section 109 of “The Mining Act, 1898,” His Excellency the Governor hereby notifies that application has been made to him to constitute and set apart by Proclamation the watercourse, the name, locality, and description whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto, to be a watercourse into which may be discharged any tailings, débris, and waste water produced by or resulting from mining operations carried on under the said Act.
Any person who objects to such Proclamation being made, or whose land, or riparian or other rights in respect of such land, will be damaged or injuriously affected by the operation thereof, is required to serve on the Minister of Mines, within the period of ninety days after the publication hereof in the Gazette, full particulars of such objection, and also a claim in the prescribed form setting forth full particulars of all compensation that will be claimed by him in the event of such Proclamation being made.
No person will be entitled to any compensation for damage or injury consequent on the operation of such Proclamation unless his claim is duly served in the manner and within the period aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICTS.
That river known as the Waikai River, which flows southerly from its source in the Garvie Mountains for a distance of about fifty-two miles to its confluence with the Mataura River, together with the tributaries thereof.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that
GEORGE PRESTON FARQUHAR, of Dunedin, Merchant;
GEORGE LYMAN SISE, of Dunedin, Merchant;
JOHN ANDREW MILLAR, of Dunedin, Accountant; and
ROBERT FERGUSON, of Dunedin, Bootmaker,
have been duly elected as members, and
FREDERICK REVANS CHAPMAN, of Dunedin, Solicitor,
has been duly elected as Chairman, of the Board of Conciliation in and for the Otago and Southland Industrial District.
As witness the hand of Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly appointed Deputy, this eighteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

WHEREAS by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that on the expiration of every third year after the first election of members of a Board, or a Chairman thereof, a new election shall be held on such day as the Governor may appoint:
And whereas the third year after the first election of the Board of Conciliation for the Westland Industrial District will expire on the fourteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint the eighteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, as the day for the election of members of the Board of Conciliation for the Westland Industrial District.
As witness the hand of Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly appointed Deputy, this nineteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
