IN the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th January there appeared an interim return showing the areas under corn-crops on the 15th November last. The following figures give the complete returns, including areas under grasses, green crops, &c., also number of horses, cattle, and swine at same date, and sheep on the 30th April last (1898). All holdings of 1 acre and over are taken, as also orchards of ¼ acre and over.
WHEAT.
