Land declared to be Crown Land subject to “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894.”

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and the purchase thereof has been concluded as by the said Act is provided: And whereas it is enacted by the said Act that all land so acquired shall be proclaimed as Crown land subject to the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, on the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be and be deemed to be Crown land subject to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894.”
SCHEDULE.
MAHORA SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 499 acres, more or less, being Lot 139 of Lot 2, Subdivision D, Heretaunga Block, situated in Block XV., Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Lot 3, Subdivision C, Heretaunga Block, 7768 links; towards the north-east by Lots 6, 137, and 138 of Lot 2, Subdivision D aforesaid, 8256·1 links; towards the south-east by a road, 6948·3 links; and towards the south-west by the Awa-o-te-Atua Block, 9190·5 links: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19111, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.
Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 634 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Lot 140 of Lot 2, Subdivision D, Heretaunga Block, situated in Block XV., Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Lot 3, Subdivision C, Heretaunga Block, 8122 links; towards the north-east by other portion of Lot 2, Subdivision D aforesaid, 7946·9 links; towards the south-east by a road, 7851 links; and towards the south-west by other portion of Lot 2, Subdivision D aforesaid, 7913·5 links: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19111A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this third day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Also all that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 404 acres, more or less, being parts of Sections 86 to 89 inclusive, Flaxbourne; and part of Section 262, Flaxbourne, Block XIV., Clifford Bay Survey District: as the same is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 18824, deposited in the Head Office of the Lands and Survey Department, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with green.
Also all that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 135 acres, more or less, being part of Section No. 70, Wakefield Downs, Clifford Bay Survey District; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 18824, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured green edged with red.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this ninth day of March, 1899.

THE HONOURABLE J. McKENZIE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS under the provisions of “The Shipping and Seamen’s Act, 1877,” a certificate of competency as home-trade master, numbered 5407, and dated the twentieth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, was issued by the Secretary to the Marine Department to James Jones, of Wellington, mariner, pursuant to the report of the examiners that he had duly passed the examination prescribed by the said Act and the regulations thereunder, and was entitled to the said certificate: And whereas in truth and in fact the said James Jones did not duly pass the said examination, and was not qualified to sit for the same:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare and publicly notify that by reason of the premises the said certificate is invalid and is not available for any of the purposes for which it purports to have been issued, and doth also hereby require all Collectors and officers of Customs and other persons concerned to have regard to this notification and to act accordingly.
