At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of January, 1899.

THE HONOURABLE A. J. CADMAN PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of a road through Mangaheia No. 2 Block, Block VII., Uawa Survey District:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown: And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the said land by the Cook County Council, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purpose of the said road, and the said land shall vest in the Cook County Council, as from the sixteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Warrant authorising the Palmerston North Borough Council to reconstruct a Bridge over the Manawatu River at the Borough Boundary, and apportioning the Cost of the Bridge.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirteen of “The Public Works Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that, in any case where the local authority of any district desires to construct a bridge in any position that will, in its opinion, be of advantage and benefit to the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent district or districts, as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion of such local authority, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district or districts should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing the said bridge, the provisions in the said section mentioned shall have effect:
And whereas the Palmerston North Borough Council has made application to the Governor to authorise the reconstruction of the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, which has been destroyed by flood (hereinafter referred to as “the said bridge”), and to apportion the cost of reconstructing the said bridge between the said Borough Council and the Fitzherbert Road Board:
And whereas the said Council and Road Board have agreed that the erection of a bridge over the Manawatu River at the borough boundary is necessary to their districts, and the plans and estimated cost of the said bridge and protective works have likewise been agreed upon, and the relative proportions of cost determined, and no objection made thereto by the Fitzherbert Road Board:
And whereas the Governor is of opinion that the work should be done:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby authorise the Palmerston North Borough Council to reconstruct the said bridge: and I do hereby declare that the cost of reconstructing the said bridge—less such amount, by way of contribution, as may be provided by Government—shall be borne by the said Council and Road Board in the following proportions—namely, one-half shall be borne by the Palmerston North Borough Council, and one-half by the Fitzherbert Road Board—and such proportions shall be paid by the said local authorities accordingly.
SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge over the Manawatu River known as the Fitzherbert Bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof, situated on the line of road leading from Palmerston to Fitzherbert, and adjacent to Sections Nos. 205 and 206, Block XV., Kairanga Survey District, County of Oroua, and Fitzherbert Street, in the Borough of Palmerston North, all in the Provincial District of Wellington; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 11766, deposited in the General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

ELECTION OF A BOARD OF CONCILIATION FOR THE OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that on the expiration of every third year after the first election of members of a Board or a Chairman thereof a new election shall be held, on such day as the Governor may appoint:
And whereas the third year after the first election of the Board of Conciliation for the Otago and Southland District will expire on the twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, as the day for the election of members of the Board of Conciliation for the Otago and Southland Industrial District.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
