Pastoral Runs in the Counties of Ashburton, Geraldine, Waimate, and Mackenzie for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned pastoral runs will be offered for lease by public auction at the times and places hereunder noted.

Run No. 3, part of Mount Peel Station, Geraldine County: Situate about sixteen miles from Geraldine and fifteen from South Rangitata Railway-station, up the Rangitata Valley, on the west side of the river, and on the east of Little Mount Peel; it extends westward from Mr. Acland’s freehold—a narrow strip along the main road—to near the summit of Little Mount Peel, which is 4,293 ft. above the sea; chiefly high broken tussock and snow-grass country, intersected by deep gullies, with a considerable amount of forest and scrub.

Run No. 4A, part of Peel Forest Station, Geraldine County: Situate about thirteen miles from Geraldine, in the Orari Gorge. Bounded on the west by the Orari River, and running up towards Little Mount Peel, to an altitude of about 2,500 ft. above the sea. Broken but good pastoral country; some light bush and scrub in the gullies.

Run No. 4B, part of Peel Forest Station, Geraldine County: Situate about eleven miles and a half from Geraldine, at the commencement of the Orari Gorge; lies south of and adjoining Run No. 4A, and is similar in description.

Run No. 4C, part of Peel Forest Station, Geraldine County: Situate about fourteen miles from Geraldine, along the Peel Forest Road; lies to the east of and adjoining Runs Nos. 4A and 4B; good pastoral country. This run occupies an isolated position, and cannot well be worked with the other two.

Run No. 48, part of Waimate Station, Waimate County: Situate about eight miles from Waimate, on the eastern slope and towards the southern end of the Hunter’s Hills. Chiefly high broken pastoral country, running up to 3,400 ft. above sea-level. Intersected by several forest gullies.

Run No. 49, part of Waimate Station, Waimate County: Situate about five miles from Waimate, on the western side and at the southern end of the Hunter’s Hills. Chiefly high and broken pastoral country, running up to 2,500 ft. above sea-level.

Run No. 67, Akatarawa Station, Waimate County: Situate about sixteen miles from Hakateramea Railway-station. High broken pastoral country, running up to 4,150 ft. above sea-level. Has a frontage of sixteen miles to the Waitaki River.

Run No. 204, Waitaki River, Waimate County: Situate about seven miles south of Hakateramea Railway-station. Some islands and river-bed in the Waitaki River; covered with grass, tussock, and shingle.

Run No. 205, Hakateramea River, Waimate County: Situate about twenty miles up the Hakateramea River from the railway-station. A narrow strip of land lying between the river and the road.

Run No. 90, part of Tasman Island Station, Mackenzie County: Situate at the northern end of the Mackenzie County, in the Tasman River, about nineteen miles from Lake Tekapo Hotel. All soft swamp in the centre, with only a fringe all round the outside on which cattle can run.

Run No. 91, part of Tasman Island Station, Mackenzie County: Situate immediately north of Run No. 90; also an island in the Tasman River, about twenty miles from Lake Tekapo Hotel. All sound bottom, except the actual shingle portions; good pasture.

Run No. 207, Tasman River, Mackenzie County: Situate directly to the east of Run No. 91, on the east bank of the Tasman River, about twenty miles from Lake Tekapo Hotel, and about four north of Braemar Homestead. A narrow strip of land lying between the road and the river.

Run No. 206, and Plantation Reserve No. 2928, part of Ben Ohau Station, Mackenzie County: Situate in the Mackenzie County, about five miles from Lake Pukaki Hotel, and in the centre of Run No. 87, Ben Ohau. Considerably cut up by small swampy streams; good grazing-country, except in the winter, when it lies cold.

Run No. 103, McRae’s Station, Ashburton County: Situate about four miles from Springburn Railway-station, on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Somers. The upper half is rough broken rocky country, is comparatively low country, fairly well grassed, and easy of access. The run is bounded on three sides by forest, and intersected by deep gullies covered with birch forest. Altitude from 2,000 ft. to 3,000 ft. above sea-level.

Run No. 106, Anama Station, Ashburton County: Situate about twelve miles from Mount Somers Railway-station, up the southern branch of the Ashburton River, and two miles southerly from it. It occupies the eastern slopes of the Moorhouse Range, near its termination. High pastoral country, though the lower slopes are good tussock hills.

Run No. 107, Shepherd’s Bush Station, Ashburton County: Situate about seven miles from Mount Somers Railway-station, and at the southern end of the Moorhouse Range, between it and the Rangitata River, which bounds it for a distance of six miles. High pastoral country, running up to 4,500 ft. above sea-level.

Run No. 203, part of Clent Hills Station, Ashburton County: Situate about seventeen miles from Mount Somers Railway-station, up the south branch of the Ashburton River, to the east side of which it has a frontage both above and below a piece of freehold which cuts into the run. Eastern portion flat and partly swamp; western portion low hills. There are two small lakes within the run, known as Maori Lakes.
