A P R O C L A M A T I O N.

WHEREAS by the second section of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1891” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things, enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

Abolishing Hutt River District, County of Hutt.

A P R O C L A M A T I O N.

WHEREAS by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor may, on petition signed by not less than two-thirds in number of the ratepayers of a river district, abolish any such district:

And whereas a petition, signed as aforesaid, has been duly presented praying that the Hutt River District, constituted under the said Act, may be abolished:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, the said Hutt River District shall be and the same is hereby abolished.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Constituting Hutt River District, County of Hutt.

A P R O C L A M A T I O N.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date hereof that part of the said colony described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby constituted a district under the said Act, and shall be known by the name of the Hutt River District; and that the number of the members who are to constitute the Board of the said district shall be five. And I do also proclaim and declare that Percy Robert Purser, of Hutt, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of five members of the aforesaid Board; that Thursday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, shall be the day, and the Borough Council Chamber, Hutt, shall be the place, for holding such first elections; and that Friday, the seventeenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, at eight o'clock in the evening, shall be the time, and the Borough Council Chamber, Hutt, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the members of the Board of the said Hutt River District shall be held. And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the aforesaid Percy Robert Purser shall be the person to make a roll of electors for the purposes of the aforesaid first elections, in the manner prescribed by section eight of the said “River Boards Act, 1884.”


SCHEDULE.
HUTT RIVER DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Hutt County bounded by a line commencing at the south-west corner of the Borough of Lower Hutt, being the south-eastern corner of Section 79, Block XIII., Belmont Survey District; thence proceeding easterly along the southern boundary of the said borough to a point in line with the boundary-line between Sections 7 and 8, Block XIII., Belmont Survey District; thence southerly by a right line to and by that boundary-line and its production to the high-water mark of Wellington Harbour; thence in an easterly direction along high-water mark of Wellington Harbour to and across the mouth of the Hutt River, and by the southern boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt to the south-east corner of the said borough; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt to the north-east corner of Section 225, Block XIV., Belmont; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 225 and part of the northern boundary of Section 34 to the south-east corner of Section 36, Block IX., Belmont; thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 36 and 39, Block IX., Belmont, to the north-east corner of Section 39; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 39 to the boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt; thence along the boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt
