whether the same be granted or not; if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto from a site for a public hall to a site for a Public Library, Mechanics’ Institute, and Athenæum.

SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 156D of the Parish of Omaha, and containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east and south-east by Section No. 156A of the Parish of Omaha, 250 and 200 links respectively; towards the south-west by Section No. 156B of the Parish of Omaha, 250 links; and towards the north-west by a public road, 200 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Amending the Description of a Reserve in the Wellington Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that where there has been any error of description made in any notification of any intended reserve, or where there appears a great discrepancy in the area of any intended reserve after the same shall have been surveyed, the Governor may cancel any notification that may have been made in respect of such reserve, and issue fresh notification in respect thereof, with amended particulars and description: And whereas an error was made in the description of Section 18, Blocks XV. and XVI., Manganui Survey District, Wellington Land District, which should have been described as Section 20, Block XVI., Manganui Survey District, in the warrant of the twenty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64, of the twenty-ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and a Proclamation of the third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 89, of the fifth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, reserving the land as an endowment for primary education; and it is expedient to cancel the said notifications in so far as they relate to Section 18, Blocks XV. and XVI., Manganui Survey District, aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the warrant of the twenty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and the Proclamation of the third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, in so far as they relate to Section No. 18, Blocks XV. and XVI., Manganui Survey District; and do declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be the land reserved as an endowment for primary education intended by the said notifications.

All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 493 acres, more or less, being Section No. 20, Block XVI., Manganui Survey District.

Rural Lands in the Marlborough Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894,” and the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the thirteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine; and that the said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”; and I do hereby declare that the rentals at which the said lands shall be leased shall be those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
