A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the consent of the Pohangina County Council and the owner of the land hereinafter mentioned, do by this notice hereby proclaim as a road the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Picton-Hurunui Railway to take further land in Opawa District, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-eight and one hundred and sixty-seven of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the purposes above mentioned.

Terms and Conditions of Village-homestead Allotments in Wellington.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of December, 1899.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-sixty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon which the lands in any village settlement shall be disposed of, subject as in the said section is provided: And whereas by a Proclamation made under the said Act on the twenty-eighth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the fifth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, the lands described in the First Schedule hereto have been set apart under the said Act and declared open for lease as village settlements, and it is expedient to fix the terms and conditions upon which the said lands shall be disposed of:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix the terms and conditions on which the lands mentioned in the First Schedule hereto shall be disposed of by way of lease in perpetuity, and which said terms and conditions are set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and also doth direct that the lands shall be leased as village-homestead allotments only.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—RANGITIKEI COUNTY.—MANGAWEKA VILLAGE SETTLEMENT.

These sections are situated in Mangaweka Suburbs, the access being from that township by unformed street. Section 107 comprises easy slopes or nearly flat land; Section 110 is hilly and easy-sloping land; Section 114 is sloping land, partly easy and partly steep. The soil on all the sections is of good quality, resting on papa formation; the forest is all felled and burned, and the land is grassed. Section 107 is now watered by surface-drainage, Section 110 by a permanent stream, and Section 114 is not watered by any stream. The elevation ranges from about 1,100 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Section 114 is weighted with £4 4s. 2d. for fencing.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.
- The lands enumerated above are first-class lands, and are divided into village-homestead allotments, open for selection on lease in perpetuity under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”).
