RESULT of poll taken on the 10th day of November, 1898, upon the proposal to borrow £640 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, to form, grade, and drain part of the Mangaotuku Road:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 18; number of votes exercisable, 21: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 14; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 15; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, 1; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 1.
I declare the above proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Te Aroha, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF TE AROHA.—PROPOSED LOAN.
RESULT of poll taken on the 24th day of November, 1898, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” upon a proposal to raise a loan of £3,000 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of waterworks for the supply of water within the Borough of Te Aroha:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 267, representing 267 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 176, representing 176 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 3, representing 3 votes.
And, as a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the said proposal to be carried.

RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is the result of a poll taken at Mangaweka, on Saturday, the 12th day of November, 1898, on a proposal of the Rangitikei County Council to raise the sum of £1,500 by way of loan under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming, metalling, and culverting roads and streets within the Town of Mangaweka and a portion of the Mangaweka Suburbs, as follows—Main Trunk Road, £1,100; Raumaewa Street, £45; Mangawharariki Road, £35; Kawakawa Street, £80; Koraenui Street, £180; and Bank Street, £60—and to levy a special rate on the value of the several properties situate within the Mangaweka Special Rating District:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 66; number of votes exercisable, 66: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 41; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 41; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.
A majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, having voted for the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

RESULT of a poll taken on the 24th day of November, 1898, to raise a loan of £4,000, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act 1886 Amendment Act, 1887,” for the construction of waterworks for the Borough of Akaroa:—
Number of voters on burgess-roll, 111; total number of votes exercisable by them, 119: Number of voters who voted in favour of the proposal, 55; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 57; number of voters who voted against the proposal, 9; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 10; informal votes, 2.
As the required majority was not obtained, I declare the proposal to be rejected.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on Friday, the 11th day of November, 1898, on a proposal of the Pohangina County Council to raise the sum of £1,820 by way of a loan under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and amendments, for the purpose of forming and metalling the Table Flat Road and Umutioi Road North and South, and to levy a special rate on the value of the several properties within the above special rating district:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 26; number of votes exercisable, 26: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 10; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 10; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 4; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 4.
I declare the above proposal to be lost.
