If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 126 acres 2 roods 33 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 1544, situate in the Orari and Geraldine Survey Districts. Bounded towards the north-east by Sections Nos. 3609 and 15892, 3319 and 4007 links respectively; towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 15590 and 15892, 3689 links, and a road-line 430 links; towards the south-west by a road-line, 6260 links; and towards the north-west by Section No. 17116, 3547 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: save and excepting thereout Reserve No. 2828, for a cemetery, and a public road running along the north-western boundary of said reserve, which are included within the above-described boundaries: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of November, 1898.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present Order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Pahautanui Public Domain Board, namely,—
JOHN MITCHELL,
NICHOLAS ABBOTT,
RODERICH MULHERN,
ALFRED IGGULDON,
WILLIAM GARDNER,
JAMES PEARCE, and
ALFRED BRADEY
(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the second Monday in each month, at two o'clock p.m., at Pahautanui, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the twelfth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days' notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 105 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 115, Block IX., Paikakariki Survey District. Bounded on the north by Sections Nos. 90 and 68; on the east by Sections Nos. 67, 65, and 64, the mouth of the Pahautanui River, and Section No. 63; on the south by Sections Nos. 7 and 116, and a public road; and on the west by Porirua Harbour: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

WHEREAS by “The Public Works Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, in section fourteen thereof, inter alia, enacted that there shall not be taken any land occupied by any building, yard, garden, orchard, or vineyard, or in bonâ fide occupation as an ornamental park or pleasure-ground, without the previous consent of the Governor in Council:
And whereas the consent of the Governor in Council is required to the taking of land for an approach to the Waiau-Clifden Bridge through the lands described in the Schedule hereto, a portion of which is occupied by a garden:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the lands described in the Schedule hereto being taken for the purpose of an approach to the Waiau-Clifden Bridge.

Extending Time for Election of Mayors of Boroughs in the Provincial District of Otago, &c.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of November, 1898.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Municipal Corporations Act Amendment Act, 1887,” it is, inter alia, provided that within the period of twenty-one days before or after the day appointed for the holding of any election the Governor in Council may extend the time allowed for the holding of such election: And whereas by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” it is provided that the elections of mayors of boroughs shall be held on the last Wednesday in the month of November in each year; and it is expedient that the date appointed for the holding of such election should be extended as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in the firstly hereinbefore in part recited Act, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding the election of each mayor for each city and borough situated within the Provincial District of Otago, and for holding the election of mayors for the Borough of the City of Wellington and for the Boroughs of Blenheim and Melrose, to Thursday, the first day of December proximo.
