Native Land proposed to be taken for a Gravel-pit in Block VII., Heretaunga Survey District.
RANFURLY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of October, 1898.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken for a public work, to wit, for the purposes of a gravel-pit, and road leading thereto, in Block VII., Heretaunga Survey District:
And whereas the said lands are held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown: And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the said lands by the Hawke’s Bay County Council, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the said gravel-pit, and road thereto, and the said land shall vest in the Hawke’s Bay County Council, as from the fifteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the said parcel of land is more particularly delineated on the plan marked as above mentioned, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.

Notice of Intention to define the Purpose of a Reserve in the Township of Seddonville.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the fifth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is amongst other things enacted that, in the case of any public reserve now vested in Her Majesty or the Governor, whether the same be granted or not, such reserves not being for one of the purposes comprised in Class I., if there shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be any doubt or uncertainty as to the purpose for which such reserve was set apart, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, define such purpose or purposes as to either the whole or any part of such reserve:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was reserved on the eleventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, for public buildings: And whereas it is expedient to define the specific purpose for which such land shall hereafter be set apart:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to define the specific purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto to be a site for the house of the Railway Stationmaster.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 26 perches, more or less, being Section No. 130 of the Township of Seddonville.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in the Wellington Land District.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto from a public-hall site to a site for a Mechanics’ Institute and Library.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 3, Block VI., Taihape Township.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirty-first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Rural Land in the Westland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fourth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
