Village-homestead Allotment in Nelson open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 29th September, 1898.
THE under-mentioned village-homestead allotment will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity at this office on Wednesday, 14th December, 1898.
If more than one application be received upon the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

The above section is loaded with £10 for value of improvements, which consist of two small buildings. The section has been cleared and grassed with the exception of a little shelter-bush.

Lands in Southland open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for selection for lease in perpetuity, under the provisions of sections 121 and 136 of “The Land Act, 1892,” on and after Thursday, the 24th November, 1898.
If more than one application be received for the same section, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

These sections adjoin Waikawa Township, but the road to them is not formed. Sections 46, 47, and 56 are mossy and rough; Sections 50, 52, 53, 54, and 55 are steep, but the soil is good. Section 50 is burdened with £5 14s. valuation for clearing, grassing, and fencing. All the sections are sparsely covered with mixed bush of no commercial value.

Reserves in Akaroa County, Canterbury, for Lease by Public Tender.

Christchurch, 11th October, 1898.
NOTICE is hereby given, under section 23 of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” that written tenders for the lease of the under-mentioned reserves for terms of seven years will be received up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 14th December, 1898.
Tenders must be enclosed in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, and marked on the outside “Tender for Reserve ,” and must be accompanied by a post-office order, or by bank draft, or cheque marked “Correct for fourteen days” by the bank on which it is drawn, for the amount of one year’s rent of the reserve at the rate tendered, together with a lease-fee of £1 1s.
The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
AKAROA COUNTY.
Reserve 151, Okain’s Bay: Area, 2 roods 32 perches; upset rental per annum, £2.
Reserve 160, Okain’s Bay: Area, 3 acres 1 rood 21 perches; upset rental per annum, £3 7s. 8d.
Reserve 169, Petit Carenage Bay, Akaroa Harbour: Area, 10 acres; upset rental per annum, £2 10s.
NOTE.—Reserve 169 is let subject to the right of the public to use the same for landing purposes.
Conditions.

There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of reserves which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessees, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of improvements effected by the lessees, nor for any other cause.

Possession will be given on the date of acceptance of tender.

The leases shall be for a term of seven years, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by Government.

The rent shall be payable yearly in advance.

The lands are let for grazing purposes, and lessees will not be permitted to break up or crop any of the same without the written permission of the Land Board first had and obtained.

The lessee shall use all reasonable means to prevent the spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in his lease.

The lessee shall destroy rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands or the Stock Department.

Lease for Grazing Purposes of Land in Mareretu Parish, Auckland, for Sale by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned forest reserve within the Mareretu Parish will be offered for lease for grazing purposes by public auction for a term of ten years, at this office, on Friday, the 16th day of December, 1898, at 11 a.m.
OTAMATEA COUNTY, PARISH MARERETU.
Pukekohe Forest Reserve, containing 382 acres 2 roods. Upset annual rental, £6. Situated about six miles from Paparoa, and comprises open land and burnt forest.
Term of Lease.—Ten years, for grazing purposes only. The lease conveys no right to fell or remove any live or dead trees or timber, whether standing or lying on the ground. No compensation for improvements at any time, but the lessee may remove fencing and buildings erected during the tenancy.
