Reserves in Akaroa County, Canterbury, for Lease by Public Tender.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 11th October, 1898.
NOTICE is hereby given, under section 23 of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” that written tenders for the lease of the under-mentioned reserves for terms of seven years will be received up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 14th December, 1898.
Tenders must be enclosed in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, and marked on the outside “Tender for Reserve ,” and must be accompanied by a post-office order, or by bank draft, or cheque marked “Correct for fourteen days” by the bank on which it is drawn, for the amount of one year’s rent of the reserve at the rate tendered, together with a lease-fee of £1 1s.
The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
AKAROA COUNTY.
Reserve 151, Okain’s Bay: Area, 2 roods 32 perches; upset rental per annum, £2.
Reserve 160, Okain’s Bay: Area, 3 acres 1 rood 21 perches; upset rental per annum, £3 7s. 8d.
Reserve 169, Petit Carenage Bay, Akaroa Harbour: Area, 10 acres; upset rental per annum, £2 10s.
NOTE.—Reserve 169 is let subject to the right of the public to use the same for landing purposes.
Conditions.

There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of reserves which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessees, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of improvements effected by the lessees, nor for any other cause.

Possession will be given on the date of acceptance of tender.

The leases shall be for a term of seven years, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by Government.

The rent shall be payable yearly in advance.

The lands are let for grazing purposes, and lessees will not be permitted to break up or crop any of the same without the written permission of the Land Board first had and obtained.

The lessee shall use all reasonable means to prevent the spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in his lease.

The lessee shall destroy rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands or the Stock Department.

Timber on Crown Forest Lands, Mangahao, Wellington, for Sale.

IT is hereby notified that the right to cut the under-mentioned timber will be submitted for sale by public auction, in two lots, at 3 o’clock, on Friday, the 21st October, 1898, at the Olympic Theatre, Pahiatua.

The timber will be sold generally in accordance with the provisions of the Land Acts and the Regulations for New Zealand Forests.
The purchaser of each lot will be required to execute an agreement of sale, deposit the sum of £10 as a guarantee of good faith, and pay a license-fee of £1 1s. He will obtain a license authorising him to occupy and cut the timber on the land during a period of eighteen months from date of sale, paying monthly therefor the royalty rate, as determined by the result of the auction, on the output of the mill.
Full particulars and conditions of sale may be obtained on application from the Crown Lands Ranger, Pahiatua, and also from the undersigned.

Sections in Townships of Ohau and Paraparaumu for Lease by Tender.

WRITTEN tenders will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 14th December, 1898, for the lease of the under-mentioned sections. If any sections are unapplied-for on the 14th December they will remain open for selection at the upset rentals, and for the terms stated herein.

Sections 22, 23, and 48, Ohau Township: These sections are situated about half a mile from the Ohau Railway-station, which is on the Wellington–Manawatu line, distant about fifty-six miles from Wellington. Sections 22 and 23, in front of the main county road, are perfectly level and in grass, and have good soil on a sandy formation. Section 48 fronts on a formed road, has good soil on a shingle-and-clay formation, and is all in grass, about half the section being flat.
Sections 10 and 11, Block VII., Paraparaumu Township: These sections are situated on the main road, within a few chains of the Paraparaumu Railway-station, which is about thirty-three miles from Wellington on the Wellington–Manawatu Railway-line. The sections have good soil on a sandy formation, and are in grass and perfectly level.

IT is hereby notified that the under-mentioned reserve will be offered for lease for a term of fourteen years, under “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Friday, the 21st day of October, 1898, at 11 a.m.
SUBURBS OF AUCKLAND.
Lot 55A, Section 12, between St. John’s College, Tamaki, and Mount Wellington, containing 24½ acres; upset annual rent, £10.
Term of lease, fourteen years, without right of renewal, and for grazing purposes only. The lease conveys no right to remove the stone or metal.
No compensation for improvements will be allowed at any time.
