Rural Lands in the Marlborough Land District for Sale or Selection.

THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be opened for sale or selection in terms of section 136 of “The Land Act, 1892,” either for cash, for occupation with right of purchase, or for lease in perpetuity, at the option of the selector, on and after Wednesday, the 26th October, 1898. If more than one application be received for the same section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day.

About seven miles from Kaikoura by road.

A first-rate section, consisting of low spurs and flat terraces; soil rich and deep, except a strip along Long Creek, which is poor soil; about 16 acres along the front is open, covered with fern and grass, and rather stony; the bush is moderately heavy, the sawmillers have taken the best of it; well watered. About seven miles from Kaikoura by main road.

About 100 acres grass and tussock, remainder light mixed bush, including a large quantity of kowhai; all limestone country; the soil is of good quality, bounded by a permanent stream; indifferent homestead-site, but it is proposed to give the purchaser the option of taking 10 acres on the opposite side of the river; altitude, 400 ft. to 2,380 ft. Ten miles from Kaikoura by road and river-bed.

About 110 acres light bush, consisting of ngaio, mahoe, kaiwhiria, matipo, with a little kowhai and manuka, remainder covered with fern, grass, and tussock; the soil, especially on the bush part, is good, and, where not too stony, would make good agricultural land; badly watered; altitude, about 1,500 ft. Six miles from Kaikoura by road.

Soil, though stony in places, is generally good; about 100 acres flat, 100 acres good easy slopes, mostly ploughable, and rest steep hillside; 50 acres are clear, covered with grass, fern, and short scrub; the bush is generally light, but contains a sprinkling of kowhai, hinau, matai, manuka, and rimu; two small streams run through the section; altitude, 500 ft. to 1,500 ft. Six miles and a half from Kaikoura by road.

About six miles and a quarter from Kaikoura; accessible by dray-road, except the last few chains.
