The examination in English will include abstract and précis writing, composition, and correspondence, and a period of literature and special books to be read will be chosen from time to time and duly announced.

  5. A candidate whose work at any Senior Examination is good on the whole, but in one or two subjects is below the required standard, may be registered as having achieved partial success at the examination; and, on giving the required notice, may at the next examination sit, without payment of fee, to be examined in such one or two subjects; and such candidate, if successful in such subject or subjects, shall be deemed to have passed such examination.

  6. As soon as possible after the Senior Examination has been held, the Minister of Education will publish a list of the successful candidates, and in the list those that have passed with distinction will be named in the order of their merit—that is to say, in the order of the marks assigned to them—and the rest in alphabetical order.
