Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and its amendments, for a certain work—namely, the construction of roads in the Parish of Mohurangi and Parish of Kourawhero:
And whereas the Mohurangi Road Board has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the said roads.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-sixty-eighth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the allotments of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for selection as village-homestead allotments.

Declaring a State Forest in the Land District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885,” and of every other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby set apart the forest land described in the Schedule hereto, forming part of the Crown lands in New Zealand, as and for a State forest within the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
All that area of land, situated in Blocks XV., XVI., Akatarawa, Blocks III., IV., VII., Rimutaka, and Blocks I., II., V., VI., Wairarapa Survey Districts, containing by admeasurement 10,578 acres, more or less. Bounded on the north generally by Sections 416, 299, Crown Lands 438, 29, 1, and 2; on the east generally by Sections 4, 5, 6, 20, 21, 350, 351, and 1; on the south generally by Sections 2, 88, 97, a road, 98, 96, 95, the Railway Reserve to the production of the north-west boundary-line of Section 100, thence across the Railway Reserve to the State Forest Reserve, and thence by the State Forest Reserve; on the west generally by the State Forest Reserve and the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company’s Part Allocation Block 26: excepting from the above description the land tinted purple, retained for railway purposes: the same being more particularly delineated on a plan marked 74, deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington.
