Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-third day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Broken forest land; well watered, and situated about three miles from Ruapekapeka Post-office.
Open land. About three miles from Waimate North.
Undulating to broken forest land; well watered; soil inferior to good. Situated from two to four miles from sea-coast, Sandy Bay, and from ten to twelve miles from Hikurangi Railway-station.
Broken forest land; medium soil; well watered. About two miles from Waipu River.
Open land; well watered; access by track from Otaika, and about eight miles from Whangarei.
Nearly all open country, the forest having been burned off; well watered, and accessible by road from Kaeo, about four miles.
About 2 acres forest, balance open. Situated about six miles from Mareretu Post-office.
Open fern and tea-tree land; clay soil. Situated about three miles from Henderson Railway-station and one mile from Waitemata Harbour.
Generally open lands, with patches of scrubby bush. Section 4 contains about 100 acres of swampy land. Sections 1 and 2 contain a small quantity of kauri; the timber has been removed from the other lots. The lands are well watered, and lie about three miles from Whangaroa and one mile from Kaeo Post-office.
