Lands temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland,
Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section
of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or parti-
cular description, and whether the same has been surveyed
or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that
the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me
by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale
the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland, Wellington,
Canterbury, and Otago described in the Schedule hereto,
for the purposes in the said Schedule specified in each case
at the end of the descriptions of the lands so intended to
be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, being Section
No. 13 of Block XII., Mangakaha Survey District, con-
taining by admeasurement 437 acres 1 rood, more or less.
Bounded towards the north by a public road, 471, 1514,
1334, 1199, 605, 1394, and 3784 links; towards the south-
east generally by a public road running along the west bank
of the Wairua River, 772, 1303, 1050, 1315, 887, 1248, 1854,
and 1265 links, and by the Omiru Block, 387 and 349 links ;
towards the south by the Mangakaha No. 2s 2 Block, 5400
links ; and towards the west by Section No. 14 of Block
XII., Mangakaha Survey District, 5964 links, to the point
of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less. For an endowment for primary education.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, being the
western portion of Section No. 12 of Block XII., Manga-
kaha Survey District, containing by admeasurement 170
acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by the
Waitomotomo No. 3c and 3b Blocks, 3899 links; towards the
east by the eastern portion of Section No. 12 of Block XII.,
Mangakaha Survey District, 3286 links; towards the south
by a public road, 1190, 1304, 1470, and 364 links; and
towards the west by a public road, 4785 links, to the point
of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
For an endowment for primary education.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, being part
of Lot No. 11 of Section No. 12 of the Suburbs of Auck-
land, containing by admeasurement 6 acres 1 rood 12
perches, more or less. Commencing at a point on the
north-eastern boundary of that portion of Lot No. 11 of
Section No. 12 of the Suburbs of Auckland known as the
One-tree Hill Recreation Reserve, distant 125 links from
its northernmost angle, and bounded thence towards the
north and east generally by other portion of Lot No. 11
aforesaid, 254, 1153; 298, 266, and 234 links; and towards
the south-west by the One-tree Hill Recreation Reserve
aforesaid, 1750 links, to the point of commencement: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a public recrea-
tion reserve.
WELLINGTON.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District,
containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less,
being Part 2 of Section No. 44, Block VI., Paikakariki
Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by Section
No. 12; on the south-east by a public road; on the south by
Section No. 44; and on the west by Section No. 44: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated
on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor,
Wellington. For a gravel reserve.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land Dis-
trict, containing by admeasurement 16 acres 1 rood,
more or less; being part of Section No. 80, Block XII.,
Puketoi Survey District. Bounded generally on the north
and north-east by a public road and part of Section No. 62,
the Makuri Road, and other part of section set aside as a
roadman’s reserve, again by the Makuri Road to a large
stream; on the south-south-west and west generally by
other part of Section No. 62, by the Makuri Road, and by a
public road 100 links wide: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited
in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For a
reserve for the accommodation of travelling stock.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District,
containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being
part of Rural Section No. 85, Christchurch Survey District.
Bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the eastern
side of the road which forms the western boundary of said
Rural Section No. 85 distant 900 links from the Riccarton
Road; thence towards the north, east, and south by the
other part of said Rural Section No. 85, 250, 100, and 250
links respectively; and towards the west by the aforesaid
public road, 100 links. As a site for a public library.
OTAGO.
All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by
admeasurement 6 acres 1 rood, more or less, situated in
Purakanui Inlet. Bounded towards the north-east generally
by high-water mark of the sea from a point in line with the
northern side of Hill Street, Purakanui Township, to a
point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Sec-
tion No. 10, Block II., Purakanui Township; thence
towards the south by a right line being the production in a
westerly direction of the south-eastern boundary-line of the
said Section No. 10 to a line running parallel to high-water
mark and 2 chains distant therefrom; thence towards the
south-west by a line parallel to and 2 chains distant from
high-water mark; and towards the north by a right line
being the production in a westerly direction of the northern
side of Hill Street aforesaid. For a reserve for a fish-
hatchery.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of September, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-eight.
