to be an Inspector of Stock in terms of “The Stock Act, 1893,” an Agent to appear and act for Her Majesty in all suits in the Magistrate’s Court brought for the recovery of rates, or sums of money in the nature thereof, payable to Her Majesty under “The Stock Act, 1893,” and an Inspector under and for the purposes of “The Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1882,” and its amendments—to date from the 1st day of August, 1898; also to be Registrar of Brands for the Marsden and Bay of Islands Branding Districts, in terms of “The Stock Act, 1893”—to date from the 1st September, 898: such appointments to be in terms of section 4 of “The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886.”

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that he has been informed by Her Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies that hostilities will not be resumed between the United States of America and Spain, and that therefore ships of war of either country may be docked and cleaned at all ports.
