Revoking Order in Council licensing F. Mander and others to occupy a Part of Foreshore of Kaipara Harbour.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, 1898.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the tenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 25, of the twenty-ninth day of the same month, His Excellency the Governor in Council did, in pursuance of the provisions of “The Harbours Act Amendment Act, 1883,” license Francis Mander, James Cooper Cairns, and Samuel Bradley to use and occupy a part of the foreshore and land below low-water mark at Stewart's Bay, Kaiwaka River, Kaipara Harbour, for the purpose of erecting and maintaining a wharf and tramway in the position shown on, and in accordance with, plans marked M.D. 1124 and 1124A, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington:
And whereas in terms of clause eight of the said Order in Council the Minister did, on the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, consent in writing to the transfer of the rights, powers, and privileges conferred by such Order in Council to the Kauri Timber Company (Limited):
And whereas the said company has asked that the said Order in Council of the tenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, may be revoked:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of all the powers enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby revoke and determine the said recited Order in Council, and every right, power, and privilege conferred thereby or intended so to be.

Declaring Mangaweka Roads through Mangaweka Town, Suburb, and Village Settlement to be County Roads.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, 1898.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the roads known as the roads through Mangaweka Town, Suburb, and Village Settlement, described in the Schedule below, and which were made by the Governor under the powers contained in the said Act, and have hitherto been Government roads, shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.
SCHEDULE.
All those roads in the Town, Suburb, and Village Settlement of Mangaweka, in the Wellington Land District, aggregating in length 3 miles 8 chains, and delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 38301, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Authorising the Wanganui River Trust to construct Jetties and Landing-places on the Banks of the Wanganui River.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, 1898.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by subsection two of section five of “The Wanganui River Trust Act, 1891,” it is enacted that, with the sanction of the Governor in Council, the Trust shall have full power and authority to erect jetties and make landing-places on the banks of the Wanganui River:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby authorise the Wanganui River Trust to erect a jetty and make a landing-place on the Left Bank of the said river within the area defined in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the south-west by the waters of the Wanganui River; towards the north-east by a line bearing 225° from the westernmost corner of Section No. 9, Block IX., Pipiriki Township, 100 links; towards the north-east by a line parallel to the water-edge on the Left Bank of the said river; and towards the south-east by Kaukore Stream: as the same is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 26867A, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Terms and Conditions of Lease of Village-homestead Allotments in Wellington.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, 1898.

WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-sixty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon which the lands in any village settlement shall be disposed of, subject as in the said section is provided: And whereas by a Proclamation made under the said Act on the first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, the lands described in the First Schedule hereto have been set apart under the said Act and declared open for lease as village-homestead allotments, and it is expedient to fix the terms and conditions upon which the said lands shall be disposed of:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix the terms and conditions on which the lands mentioned in the First Schedule hereto shall be disposed of by way of lease in perpetuity, and which said terms and conditions are set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and also doth direct that the lands shall be leased as village-homestead allotments only.

Section 4, Pakihikura Village Settlement, is situated on a formed dray-road, the access to the village settlement being from Hunterville, which is about eleven miles distant by formed dray-road via Vinegar Hill Bridge. The area comprises sloping land with about 5 acres of flat. The soil, which rests on papa formation, is of good quality. The forest is of a mixed character, and comprises rimu, matai, kahikatea, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered.
