  1. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  2. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  3. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first Tuesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  4. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  5. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  6. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

All that area in the Hororata Survey District, Land District of Canterbury, containing 23 acres, more or less. Bounded north-eastward by a road-line; south-westward by the River Wakaepa; north-westward by Section No. 14759; and south-eastward by Section No. 1237: and numbered 1388 (in red) on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch.

Dues and Rates for the Little Omaha and Tea Point Wharves, Whangateau Harbour.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of August, 1898.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS it is provided by section four of “The Harbours Act Amendment Act, 1879,” that the power granted to the Governor in Council by the seventeenth section of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” in respect of prescribing what dues and rates may be charged on wharves vested in local bodies may be exercised from time to time as occasion may require, and shall not be limited as in the said section is provided: And whereas the wharves at Little Omaha and at Tea Point in Whangateau Harbour are vested in the Omaha Road Board: And whereas it is desirable that dues and rates should be prescribed for the use of the said wharves:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by “The Harbours Act, 1878,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby prescribe that the dues and rates specified in the Schedule hereto shall be charged and taken, on and after the publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette, for the use of the said wharves at Little Omaha and Tea Point.

The dues and rates which were prescribed by Order in Council dated the tenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, are hereby revoked.

Notifying Lands in Canterbury for Sale by Public Auction.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the fourth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto following the description of such lands respectively.
