I, Frederic Mainwaring, of Ashburton, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, in the Colony of New Zealand, Clerk of the Ashburton County Council, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare—

  1. I am the Clerk of the Ashburton County Council.
  2. All proceedings required by “The Counties Act, 1886,” or by “The Water-supply Act, 1891,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers of the Rangitata Subdivision of the Ashburton-Rangitata Water-race District—being a district duly constituted under the provisions of “The Water-supply Act, 1891,” for the purpose of the construction of water-races therein—to the proposal of the said Council for raising and borrowing a sum of £20,000 for the construction of certain water-races and other waterworks for irrigation purposes within the said subdivision have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.
    And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

RUAPUNA SUBDIVISION, ASHBURTON-RANGITATA WATER-RACE DISTRICT.

Ashburton County Council,
21st June, 1898.

To the Hon. the Colonial Secretary,
Wellington.

In pursuance of the provisions of the 199th section of “The Counties Act, 1886,” I give you notice that on the 17th day of June, 1898, a poll was taken of the ratepayers of the Ruapuna Subdivision of the Ashburton-Rangitata Water-race District—being a district duly constituted under the provisions of “The Water-supply Act, 1891,” for the purpose of the construction of water-races therein—in respect of a proposal of the Ashburton County Council to raise and borrow a sum of £5,000 for the construction of certain water-races and other waterworks for irrigation purposes within the said subdivision; and that the following votes were recorded for and against the proposal:—
For, 20 votes, representing £31,592 of rateable value; against, 1 vote, representing £4,670 of rateable value.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal represents not less than one-half of the total number of ratepayers and three-fifths of the rateable value of the rateable property in the said subdivision, I have declared the resolution in favour of the proposal to be carried.

Special Order made by the Hutt County Council constituting the Plimmerton Road District.

SPECIAL ORDER MAKING PLIMMERTON ROAD DISTRICT.

THAT, having considered the petition of Messrs. Charles Plimmer, J. A. Plimmer, and others, it is hereby declared by way of special order that the following area shall constitute a road district, that is to say—all that piece of land having the boundaries hereinafter described, viz., commencing on the shores of the Porirua Harbour at the southernmost corner of Section 82, Block VIII., Paikakariki Survey District; thence north-westerly and northerly along the southern and western boundaries respectively of said Section 82 to its north-western corner; thence north-westerly along a line bearing 133° 1′ 27″ (true) to the eastern boundary of the Motuhara Block; thence southerly along part of the said eastern boundary to the sea-coast; thence still southerly and north-easterly along the said sea-coast and the shores of the Porirua Harbour respectively to the point of commencement—and that the name of such road district shall be the Plimmerton Road District; and that the number of members of the Board of such road district shall be five; and that the first election of members of such Board shall be conducted in accordance with section 49 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882”; and this order shall take effect from date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
And that at a meeting of the Hutt County Council, duly convened for and held on this 10th day of May, 1898, for the purpose, amongst other things, of confirming the above-written resolution, the same was confirmed.
