Extending Time for Preparation of Burgess Roll, Borough of Linwood.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1898.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that certain things required to be done by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” in connection with the making and revision of the burgess lists or rolls of the Borough of Linwood cannot be done by or within the time required by the said Act: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for the doing of the said things in connection with the burgess lists or rolls of the said Borough of Linwood, and doth declare that the times for the doing of such several things shall be those which are specified in the Schedule hereunder.
SCHEDULE.
- Burgess list to be made out on or before the 23rd May, 1898.
- Burgess and defaulters’ list open for inspection, and delivery of objections thereto, until the 31st May, 1898.
- Inspection of lists of objections, from the 1st June, 1898, to the 8th June, 1898.
- Sitting of Council to determine claims and objections on the 13th June, 1898.
- Burgess roll to come into force on the 14th June, 1898.

Extending Time for Preparation of County Rolls, County of Waitotara.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1898.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that owing to unavoidable circumstances the preparation of the rolls for the County of Waitotara, and the taking of certain steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be made and taken within the times limited by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and it is expedient to extend the said times respectively:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the several dates mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be the respective dates for taking the several steps set out in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
- For preparing the rolls for ridings within the County of Waitotara: Until the 22nd June, 1898.
- Time for which such rolls shall be open for inspection: From the 27th June to the 15th July, 1898.
- Time for appeals against the said rolls: Until the 31st July, 1898.
- Revision Courts may sit for hearing applications with reference to the said rolls and adjourn: Until the 31st August, 1898.
- Time when the said rolls, having been duly corrected and signed, shall come into force: On the 1st September, 1898.

Otago Dock Trust to be subject to the Provisions of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887.”

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1898.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time declare that any leasing authority shall be subject to the provisions of the said Act, but that no such order shall have any effect unless it be issued at the request or upon the recommendation of the leasing authority on whose behalf such order is issued:
And whereas it has been made to appear that the Otago Dock Trust is a leasing authority within the meaning of the said Act, and has requested that it may be brought under the provisions thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony, and in pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, doth hereby order and declare that from and after the date hereof the Otago Dock Trust shall be subject to the provisions of “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887.”

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.
RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor by the owners of the land described in the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the division order made by the Native Land Court under the provisions of “The Native Land Division Act, 1882,” bearing date the eighteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has recommended that such restrictions be removed:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the fifty-second section of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and in accordance with the recommendation of the Native Land Court, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said division order on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land, containing 21 acres 3 roods, known as Hikutaia No. 1a, held under an order of the Native Land Court dated 18th August, 1885, in favour of Tamati Paetai and others, and containing the following restrictions: “The land may be leased for any term not exceeding twenty-one years, but shall be otherwise inalienable except with the consent of the Governor.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

has been appointed an officer for the purposes of that Act within the Counties of Hutt, Horowhenua, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Oroua, Manawatu, Kiwitea, Pohangina, and Rangitikei, and within all the town districts and boroughs within the said counties.
