Notice of Request to amend Specification.

Patent Office;
Wellington, 30th March, 1898.
A REQUEST for leave to amend the specification (including drawings) relating to the under-mentioned
application for letters patent has been received, and is open
to public inspection at this office. Any person may at any
time within one month from the date of this Gazette give me
notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such
notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection,
and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.
No. 10260.—5th January, 1898.—Frederick Baker, of
Maylands, Kambrook Road, Caulfield, Victoria, Builder, and
Agar Wynne, of Colonial Chambers, 421, Collins Street,
Melbourne, Victoria, a member of the Legislative Council of
Victoria. Improved means for securing the heads of axes,
hammers, picks, and the like to their handles.
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows:—
(1.) To insert the word “curved” before the word “tapering,” line 11, page 2, of the description.
(2.) To insert after the paragraph ending on line 23, page 3,
the following words: “In some cases this side G can be
curved slightly instead of being made with a straight taper.”
(3.) To insert the word “curved” before the word “tapering” in line 3 of “Claim 1” and line 2 of “Claim 4.”
(4.) To insert a letter of reference inadvertently omitted
from the drawings.
The applicants state: “Our reasons for making these
amendments are to more correctly describe and explain the
invention.”
