A PPLICATION having been made to me for the issue of
a provisional certificate of title for Rural Section 2113,
Christchurch Survey District, Vol. lxxxi., folio 210, of the
Register-book, whereof ROBERT REAY, of Riccarton, is
the registered proprietor, and proof of the loss of the original
certificate having been furnished, I hereby give notice that
I will issue such provisional certificate at the expiration of
fourteen days from the date of the Gazette containing this
notice.
Dated this 15th day of March, 1898, at the Lands
Registry Office, Christchurch.

BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH.

P ROPOSAL that “The Rating on Unimproved Value
Act, 1896,” be adopted in the Borough of Greymouth,
and that henceforth property be rated upon the basis of the
unimproved value thereof.
Result of poll taken on the 23rd February, 1898:—
The total number of voters on the roll was 461, one-third
of whom is, say, 154. The voting was as follows: For the
proposal, 147 voters, exercising 214 votes; against the pro-
posal, 28 voters, exercising 48 votes; informal, 1.
Majority for the proposal, 119 voters, exercising 166 votes.
And, as the number of voters who polled exceeded one-third
of the total number of voters on the roll, I declare the
proposal carried.
